Packing for a winter getaway can feel challenging, since you want to be fully prepared for the cold without wanting to overpack. Trust me, I’m always overpacking! The key is to build a small wardrobe of essential pieces that can easily be mixed and matched, creating numerous suitable outfits throughout your ski weekend, or Christmas vacation.

I always recommend choosing a neutral shade like cream, beige, light grey, tan or taupe, purely because this will go with everything, and one of these shades will suit your skin tone the best.

A merino wool jumper (sweater if you’re American) is a winter packing hero. Since it’s lightweight, naturally odour-resistant, and provides excellent insulation, it’s the perfect addition to any winter outfit. Since it’s fairly compact, it’s also easy to pack one alongside your other necessities.

We recommend wearing one over your base layer on the slopes, or even styling it with a pair of smart trousers for a sophisticated dinner.
