Styling Fashionable Rainwear From Lighthouse

I couldn’t be more excited to share this brand new collaboration with you! I’m working with Lighthouse, an amazing rainwear company from Northern Ireland, and they couldn’t be better suited to my style. As you know, I love rainwear! I’ve been wearing wellies and raincoats since forever, regularly showcasing those outfits on my blog, which you all seem to love too.

Living in the UK means we constantly have “predictable unpredictability” (as Christen puts it) when it comes to the weather, and Lighthouse was inspired by the unpredictability of rainy days, being born on the Irish coastline of Belfast. Everything they do comes from a simple idea: they want people to enjoy the outdoors, whatever the weather.

The Lighthouse heritage actually comes from Target Dry, a company that’s been making weatherproof clothing since 1987, so Lighthouse was founded from that experience, taking everything they knew about rainwear and giving it a style-led edge!

They are a small, close-knit team, designing everything in Belfast. Creating pieces that are designed to keep you dry and warm, but also look good for everyday life. We’re talking chic coats you’d happily wear to lunch in the city, but that also work on a windswept coastal walk. They make waterproofs and fleece feel fashionable and fun, rather than functional-looking. From cosy linings to cheerful colour palettes, their aim is to make bad-weather days feel brighter, and I think they have certainly achieved that!

At the heart of it, Lighthouse is about joy in the rain. We believe being outdoors shouldn’t stop when the weather turns – in fact, that’s often when the best memories are made. Look great and stay dry, whatever the weather.

Our coats have been designed with care in Northern Ireland – where we know a lot about rain, wind and patchy weather forecasts. Inspiration comes from our love of the coast and our desire to make life a little simpler. We believe that you don’t need to sacrifice style for practicality.

As you know, this is why I love rainwear. That feeling of strength and power over the elements. That sense of being unstoppable and able to tackle whatever you’re doing, while staying completely dry. It makes you feel like a winner. Allowing you to live your life without care and enjoy every moment. It’s very powerful.

I’m splitting this blog post into two, so there will be a second post coming soon with two other coats and a fleece (which are equally as gorgeous). This article features my new rainwear by Lighthouse, specifically, and I love these pieces! Carry on scrolling down to read about each item and for links to these pieces! I also have a discount code, for 15% off, valid until 31st December!

First up, I am wearing this beautiful Outback Waterproof Full Length Rain Coat in Plum. The Outback combines the classic country heritage look with a fresh, modern design with the shoulder flaps. This coat is highly waterproof and windproof, blending elegance with functional features, which is essential to an outdoor lifestyle.

The cape, walking leg straps and detachable hood will keep you dry and protected on blustery, stormy days, with the contrasting checked lining adding a warm, cosy feel. I had no idea the leg straps existed until I found out, but they’re velcro ties, designed to stop the jacket from blowing around, making it even more suitable for the wind. I LOVE this idea!

What sets the Outback apart is the special attention to detail, from the nautical style drawcords to the antique brass tone toggles and buttons. This is a coat that’s ideal for dog walking in all weathers, supporting friends and family at rainy sporting events or for those of you who work outdoors.

I absolutely adore the Plum colour, which matches my hat, and the protection that this long coat offers. I’m always complaining about how my legs get wet with traditional rain coats, but this one, if worn with knee-high wellies, means total protection, as it’s waterproof up to 10,000mm of water!

It also weighs just over 1kg, so it’s pretty substantial and warm. This Outback coat has two zipped front pockets and an interior phone pocket, which is super handy. The hood is detachable, there are snaps on the wrists to taper the sleeves, a protective shoulder cape, underarm cape straps, and a generous adjustable back walking vent. You get all of this for £84.99. It comes in many colours too, but Plum is stunning!

As you can see, underneath the Outback coat is this Bryony Dress in Cranberry Floral. This is a midi-length dress with waist pockets, that’s super chic and fun, with a scalloped collar, hand-drawn print, and flattering semi-fitted shape.

This dress is smart enough for plans, and comfy enough for every day. The hidden waist pockets add a touch of practicality, while the breathable cotton-viscose blend keeps things feeling light and easy. This is one of those dresses that you can belt to give it more of a feminine shape, like I did, or leave it looser for warmer days.

I love that this dress is hand-drawn as well – it’s really pretty and cute to wear, while a viscose blend makes everything so soft and comfortable! This dress is £59.99, and you can tell it is a really high-quality piece as it’s got some weight to it. It’s not something cheap that’s going to break. Plus, it matches perfectly with the Outback Rain Coat in Plum! I love this entire rainy day outfit!

One really cool piece is this Storm Rain Hat in Plum. I’ve never had a rain hat before, so it’s something new to my rainwear collection, and a really valuable item to own.

This one was designed to match their Outback and Outrider raincoats. Even though these coats come with an adjustable hood, a rain hat gives you visibility and freedom as well as added protection, which I’ve realised you don’t want to pass up!

You can simply remove the hood and pop on the rain hat, crafted to stay securely put when the brisk winds blow, or, like me, leave the hood intact for aesthetic purposes.

This hat is 100% waterproof (I’ve tested it), which means, due to the nature of this fabric, it’s not breathable. It’s pretty lightweight and is machine washable, so it’s a really cute, fun, and useful hat to have. I usually still get wet with an umbrella or hood, and that can be really annoying, so I’m looking forward to testing out the Storm Rain Hat in some pouring rain!

I absolutely adore the Plum purple colour, but if that’s not for you, there are various other colours available too. It only retails for £18.99! I finished this entire look off with a belt around my waist, and some ankle rain boots. I love how pretty it is!

My second outfit here features this stunning Beachcomber Long Jacket in Deep Coral. This is absolutely one of my favourite rain jackets as coral is in my top 3 favourite colours of all time!

The Beachcomber is a 3/4 length waterproof jacket with a soft jersey lining and a hood. It’s perfect for unpredictable summer weather as it’s waterproof, breathable, and windproof, with fully taped seams to keep you snug and dry, even in a downpour.

The soft jersey lining, which has nautical stripes, is super cute, giving off a sailor vibe, perfect for rainwear. The outer layer is made with durable polyester, which makes it comfortable and practical. You can put your essentials in the two handy front pockets or stow them safely in the zipped internal pocket—ideal for those countryside rambles or seaside strolls.

This raincoat is breathable up to 3.000 gsm, so that’s ideal for warmer weather, all while being waterproof up to 3,000 mm. It’s totally windproof too! It also features a two-way front zip and poppers for extra security!

This was a summer colour, so it’s on sale for only £52.99, down from £74.99, but it’s available in an array of shades, so choosing your favourite might be the hardest part! I definitely recommend coral, though.

As you can tell, I adore the colour coral, so it’s no surprise that I already owned matching coral wellies and an umbrella. They are slightly different tones of coral orange, but close enough to work together!

USE CODE: Lorna15 for 15% off of full price, new in items!

I opted for a striped t-shirt so that it would match the lining of the raincoat, as it’s exactly the same navy and white stripe, and tucked that into some black skinny jeans. I love how everything turned out, and it’s such a bright, joyous rain day outfit – I cannot wait to wear it! Rainy days do not need to be sad and dismal, especially when you have pretty rain clothes like this!

I have plenty more photos below for you, so you can see the purple outfit in all its glory just as you scroll down, as well as the coral ensemble below that! Which look do you love? And of course, for my male readers, Lighthouse has a whole men’s section – you don’t have to miss out! We can match! I can’t wait to show you more of their pieces in the second blog post.

Predictably unpredictable has to be the politest description of our weather! I love it! 🙂 Beautiful autumn photos with the leaves and the grey weather! The plum colour is stunning. The coat and dress complement each other perfectly, beautiful outfit. Never thought of a rain hat before, I’ve never liked hoods as I find then restrictive, thanks for the idea. I can see why you like coral, you look great in it. Lovely outfit matching the lining to your top and letting the coat be the star of the show.

Ha ha, yeah I guess it is polite! But we are British, so we’re nothing but polite 😀 I’m so happy you love the post! I spent a lot of time on this one, so it’s nice it’s well received! You should get a rain hat! It’s changing lives!! I’m with you on hoods, I don’t like them that much as they’re restrictive! They have men’s hats https://www.lighthouseclothing.co.uk/collections/mens-waterproof-hats

They are 😀 Definitely helpful! Obviously an umbrella is the best thing entirely, but the hat is very useful!

True, umbrellas don’t mess your hair up! Although I shouldn’t be in charge of an umbrella, I’ll end up accidentally bumping it into someone eventually! 😂

I just wanted to drop by and say how much I appreciate this post 🙂 It’s nice to see your outfits being shared frequently and this is a really fun way to go out in the rain. The plum is stunning. Coral might be too bright for me, but I love the purple.

Hi Lorna, so good to see you posting regularly. I was worried, but glad to see you’re back. I really like those rain wear outfits. The purple looks amazing with the cute short wellies, but I absolutely adore the coral ones. What lovely rain jackets. These posts fit so well with the passing storm. I even went out in my chocolate hunter welles and walked a special route. If you are ever in The Netherlands, I would recommend you to do a hike at a “laarzenpad” a perfect hike for wellies.
