How to Self-Tan Fair Skin for a Natural Glow
Getting a tan when you are really pale can be a bit of a gamble. Trust me, I know! I’m as pale as can be! The goal is looking like you have a warm glow, not like an Oompa Loompa by wearing fake tan that is too orange. The good thing is that you can get glowing skin at home if you do it the right way. You don’t always have to visit the salon. It’s about choosing products made for people with light skin like ours and making sure you get your body ready first. You have to choose formulas for lighter skin tones and take the time to properly prepare your body to get perfectly radiant skin.
Preparing Your Canvas
This is the most important part – the prep! A fake tan always starts in the shower. This is well before you put any colour on your body. You need to rub away the dead skin, especially around your elbows, knees, and ankles. These areas tend to soak up a lot of colour as they can be dry and flaky. If you remove the dead skin, the colour will go on smoother and look more even. It will also last longer! Doctors who deal with skin problems often say you should use a scrub or a special product to remove dead skin. This helps your skin get ready for the upcoming tan and makes it look better.
Choosing the Right Formula
If you have a pale complexion, it is usually not a good idea to use heavy mousses and dark lotions because they can be too much for your skin. Tanning water is a great option for people with pale complexions. A clear, lightweight one is a good choice because it is easy to apply and does not make a mess. These are great because they let your skin get darker slowly. They do not stain your clothes or sheets. You can just spray it on your skin, rub it in, and wait for it to work. After an hour, your skin will look warmer and more tan, and it will look like you got the colour from being outside, not from using a product. This is also good because it does not have any guide colours that can stain your skin while it is working. I’ve used tanning water in the past, and it’s very good.

Application Techniques That Work
When you apply your tanning products, they will not work properly if you just rub them on with your hands. You need to use a mitt to rub the product on to your skin in circles. Start with your legs. Then move up your body. This way you will not get lines when you bend. It is a good idea to put a little bit of moisturiser on your wrists and heels first. The moisturiser helps keep those spots from getting too dark when you apply the products. It can be a good idea to add some moisturiser to your elbows and knees as well, as you removed the dead skin from these areas. Aim to use a moisturiser that does not have a smell. But to reiterate, use the tanning product with the mitt and moisturiser to get the best results.
Enjoying Your New Look
Mastering the art of a glow isn’t easy; it takes a bit of practice. But the confidence boost you get from a glow is totally worth it. To get a real looking fake tan, you should follow these steps of the perfect prep, how to rub it in, and moisturiser. I’ve used glow products from Tan Luxe before, one that is clear and builds up slowly. I can vouch for this being a good and subtle tan for pale skin. Please do remember to use the mitt though, nobody wants bright orange palms and uneven tans! If you want your fake tan to look good for a long time, you need to take care of your skin. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and apply moisturiser every day. This will help the glow fade slowly and give you evenly radiant skin. Dry skin makes it look patchy.
