Christmas Lights & Decorations

The one thing that I absolutely love at Christmas time is the decorations. I recently made a big post about the little things I love at Christmas time, but since the lights and decorations are one of the best on my list, I thought I would make a dedicated post with some of my photos that I have been taking over the past two months. Some of these are taken with the camera (Nikon D7000 for those wondering) and the others are taken with my iPhone.

The decorations are mostly from around my hometown of Bath in the town and from inside my house as well. We get a Christmas market here every single year and it stays for two weeks or so, where they sell wooden toys and decorations, cheese, sausages, roasted nuts etc in lots of little wooden sheds covered in snow. It’s incredibly hectic as we get so many people coming just for the market from all over the place, mainly from Wales, but it’s always so beautiful to look at! So are the decorated Christmas trees! I hope you enjoy the photos! Do you love festive lights too?

These gorgeous lights are put up outside of Milsom Place on Milsom Street. They are one of my favourites as they are pink, purple and white! I love them!

The rainbow faux fur hip flask isn’t actually a Christmas decoration, but I’m using it as one! I found it in Urban Outfitters on Friday and fell in love with it! Not to use it as a drinks holder, but to use it as an ornament. Isn’t it adorable? I’ve named it Mr Fluffmonger, ha ha! I’ve positioned it next to my little purple glitter tree ornament. If you love the hip flask, you can check it out on their website here.

This was a gorgeous carousel that we had for a couple of months in my town. We get it every year around Christmas and it’s always so pretty and decorated!

You may notice this candle from the top photo of this post, but I thought it deserved some special recognition too. I got given it as a gift and it’s from Milana Candles. Their candles are hand poured and they aren’t made with any bad chemicals so they are perfectly safe. This one is called Love Street and it smells delicious, it’s really sweet and fruity as it has a mix of blackberry, rhubarb and vanilla! It fills the entire house with a lovely scent! I actually learned a little tip about their candles too. When you first light them, you should let them burn until the wax has melted all across the top, otherwise you get left with a sunken pit in the middle and the next time you light it, it will only melt up to the edges it made last time. You can check out their website here.

This is a beautiful tree outside of a hotel here. I love this one! It’s decorated perfectly!

A close up photo of my main photo above. These lights are hanging in Southgate shopping centre here in Bath and are outside shops like Kurt Geiger and Topshop. I think they are some of the prettiest we have!

And finally, these are some little trees that were at the entrance to the Christmas market. They were adorable! I did try to take some photos of the actual Christmas market, however as it’s so packed with people, it didn’t really work out very well.

The scents of roasted almonds, gingerbread cookies and savory and sweet snacks mingled with the steam rising from mugs of hot spiced mulled wine as people stroll through rows of wooden booths and stalls. Shoppers find regional handicrafts—nutcrackers, wooden figurines, straw stars, smokers, textiles, cards, cookie tins, glass balls, toys, and tree ornaments. Each Christmas market is unique with its own flavor and traditions. But this is what we experience from Germany’s Christmas markets.
