St. Ives

st-ives-bay

I am super, super, super, super (x 100000) excited to tell you that I am going to St. Ives! For those of you who don’t know where it is, it’s right at the very bottom of England in Cornwall, right on the edge before you cross the ocean to France. It might seem hilarious to some of you, but I have never seen blue sea before. I’ve only ever been to the touristy coasts which are full of brown sea water and dirty sand, like Weston-Super-Mare, Weymouth or Minehead. So I truly can’t wait to see a pretty blue ocean as I know St. Ives is famous for it!

Adam and I are going there as a little holiday (one that doesn’t involve work or stress), so that’s why I am really happy about it. The train journey is almost 5 hours, but I think the destination is worth it! We are staying in a little B&B on the seafront so every morning we will have a sea view and that excites me even more! It was our 7 year anniversary at the end of April, but due to weather and illness, we didn’t actually end up doing anything so I think this little holiday can be in celebration of that instead! Better late than never!

While we are there, we have already planned a boat trip to seal island which I can’t wait for. I’ve always loved seals, I had an obsession with them when I was younger and even did one of my school projects on them. It will be fantastic to see them naturally on the cliffs and in the sea. There’s a nice lighthouse to explore too, lots of remote areas of scenery and it’s quiet as it’s only a little place. I wont be blogging while I am there, but I will of course be updating my social media. I’m now on Snapchat too so make sure you follow me on both Instagram and Snapchat as @LornaRaindrops and you can keep updated in real time with my travels! We will be taking the camera too though, so when I’m back I will have lots to share with you! Have any of you been to St. Ives? Do you have any recommendations?

Cornwall is lovely. 🙂 I know you’ll both have a wonderful time. We used to go there for family holidays when I was a kid until we started going to France instead. I remember exploring the rock pools on the beaches and spending all the money I’d saved over the year in the shops (mostly on Doctor Who books and lego). We didn’t go to hotels or B&Bs though – my parents had a caravan that we towed behind the car so a lot of my memories are also of the camp sites we stayed on and playing games with my brother. 🙂

I wish I could give you some good recommendations about what to see and do but I was 12 the last time I was in Cornwall – and, considering my present age, that’s feels like an aeon ago. 😉 You’ll have no trouble finding lots of stuff to do. I’ll look forward to seeing the pics. 😀

St Ives: I quite liked the Museum of Modern Art even though it’s every bit as crazy as a MOMA can be expected to be. Many decent artists have been attracted to St Ives – some claim the light is different down there!

Enjoy the cream tea and also the fish and chips – but beware the seagulls – in every way – they’re not too afraid of people and sometimes take aim at us (if you see what I mean) for fun.

I love ST Ives – the perfect place for a nice getaway

Yeah I loved the seagulls, I like to share my food with them! I did see a lot of art galleries and even people painting on the cliff tops! So I definitely see what you mean about artists!
