I’m covering a topic that isn’t something I have ever done before, or one that I have seen many other fashion bloggers speak about – shaving. For us ladies, shaving is a huge part of our lives as we always strive to have silky smooth legs and skin, which for me, wasn’t something that came easily. Until now.
I got sent this Philips Satin Shave Prestige Electric Shaver by the brand and have been trialing it for a few weeks now, getting to know how it works and what I like about it. This is my very first time actually using an electric shaver as I have always stuck to the razors in the past, but I can safely say that I will not be going back to one of those anytime soon!
I’ve recorded a YouTube video review sharing everything there is to know about this Philips Satin Shave Prestige Shaver and also showing you demos of it being used on my skin, so you can see exactly how it works. That video is just below, so make sure you watch it for a more in depth review. But, lets get to the information on the shaver first and what it’s actually like.
So what’s included? Obviously you get that beautiful box, in a purple/pink shade which is extremely feminine and pretty, but what comes with the shaver? It has the waterproof bag/pouch that you can carry everything in for travel purposes. The actual shaver itself (which is shown above with the skin stretcher cap already attached to it, but it does come separately). A bikini head trimmer for the bikini line, of course a charger, and a purple holder.
As you can see, everything is very girly in a white and lilac tone, which is something I prefer actually. I used to find that men’s shavers would work better, but they are masculine and large, so this one is perfect, all while being a lot more delicate for female skin. I think Philips did a fantastic job with designing it. I actually can’t be without it now and have to use it multiple times a week.
The Satin Shave Prestige Electric Shaver works both on wet and dry skin, so you can use it in the shower or wherever else you want to, making it extremely versatile. Plus, as it’s comfortable and completely gentle/soft on the skin, you can use it every day if you wanted to (not that you have to) so it’s ideal for eliminating the shaving burn/rash that we can get from razors quite regularly.
This shaver uses Philips most advanced shaving technology for a really close, silky smooth shave. It features flexing curved blades underneath protective foil guards, which follow your contours to make sure it doesn’t miss any hairs and cuts them as close to the root as possible. The multiflex head actually moves with you so it ensures that contact with the skin is kept as all times, making it super easy to chop those hairs off whenever or wherever you want. It even has comfort cushions either side of the shaving head for a smoother feel, all while protecting your skin. It’s so nice not getting burning or irritated skin, it’s like a miracle!
The handle actually fits effortlessly in your hand, making it easy to just glide it up and down over your legs for an easy shave. One thing I do recommend doing (and you can see in the video) is to pull your skin taught when you shave, as this cuts even closer again and never misses any hairs. That’s something that I have learned to do over the last few weeks of using it, since I have stretchy skin.
When it comes to charging, I found that it took an hour to an hour and a half to charge, but if you are desperate, it can also do a quick charge in 5 minutes which is suitable for one shave. Isn’t that amazing? You literally have everything you need to shave without issues, for a very long time, all for £70. I am literally obsessed with this shaver now and I can’t wait to use it all the time. I actually get excited to as I love that little crackling noise it makes as it cuts over the hairs! You can watch the video just below and buy this Philips Shaver online by clicking here. Have any of you tried it before?
This shaver was sent to me by Philips, but the opinions expressed are all my own.

This answers one of my questions: since women have so much more, um, area to cover, shouldn’t they need an industrial-strength shaving device? Apparently not, in this case.

Ha ha, that made me laugh. Industrial strength! We aren’t wolf women, lol! Our hairs are not as thick as men’s, so I think that’s why!
Lorna, this is a really cute looking electric shaver… I have to use shavers like Schick Intuition as I have scars that most razors can cut easily… I have been thinking of purchasing an electric one as I find they are so much more gentle on my skin… this one looks like a contender… xox

It’s definitely great! I haven’t had any issues with it at all. Razors will cut marginally closer, but the damage they can cause is just not worth it.
I prefer epilators more than shavers, at least the result will be long lasting. This shaver sounds tho, it would be good when you don’t have time to epilate.

I haven’t ever used an epilator as I’m afraid of them. I hear they’re pretty painful, ripping the hairs out?
If it replaces the razor by million points, I am in, girl! The rash is the worst thing ever & it’s so great there are products like this one to help with that issue and never let it happen again. Lovely review, really enjoyed listening to you talking about this electric shaver, hon. It was nice to see it in action as well!

Thank you, Nadia! I don’t often do video reviews, so I’m glad you liked this one a lot, that means a lot to me. And I know, right? The shaving rash! I can’t stand it.
De nada! 😉
Gostaria de experimentar!
Ótima segunda!

Glad you like it!
I am lucky in this department as I am really hairless. LOL! At least it’s one thing that I don’t have to spend money on.

You are extremely lucky! I’m not even close, ha ha!
I actually use epilator on my legs, but this seems small enough for my arm pits… And the fact that it can be used under the shower is pretty cool 🙂 Great review 🙂 xx

Glad to hear this works as well as it looks. I’ve never used an electric shaver, but perhaps I’ll give this one a try.

It’s definitely worth a go!
Oooh, I’ve never had a razor that I can use on dry skin! This sounds like a life saver! No more razor burns for me lol. Thanks for the rec!

This is a very helpful and well-written review Lorna, and you’re absolutely adorable in the video! I never realised you sound so young! I’ve never made a proper attempt to use an electric shaver before, as the sight of them is slightly scary! But I’m glad to hear this product really worked for you and suits your skin much better than a razor. Shaving is the least favourite beauty chore isn’t it?!

I know, it is such a chore! And yeah, everyone says that I look young and sound like a child, it’s not ideal lol.
But most people are in search of eternal youth! Especially in the fashion industry, where everyone wants to live forever, or be cryogenically frozen so they can be de-thawed later, haha!

Ha ha, sounds like some super hero stuff!
I pulled my hamstring and found I couldn’t shave in the shower anymore! So I bought this shaver the other day. Enjoyed your review – it confirms my experience so far! (Although me, I long for a lady product in turquoise or lime green, or something just not pink/purple, ha ha.)
Just wondered – I haven’t used it wet yet. Have you found a big difference between using it wet or dry? Thanks in advance!
Author
Oh no! That’s unfortunate, I really hope it heels soon! I think lime green or turquoise would be a great colour combination though, I know a lot are pink or purple.
I haven’t actually used this wet much at all as I prefer it dry. When it’s dry I can really feel what I’m doing and how well it’s removing the hairs, so that’s the way I prefer to do it. I didn’t get on with it wet too well. Good luck!
You are so pretty! I love the video! I was wondering if you will skin itch once your body hair grows back after using this…Thanks 🙂
Author
Hi, thank you, that’s very kind 🙂 No I haven’t found my legs itch at all, they don’t itch when the hair grows back from a razor and they don’t itch with this one either. I only use it for my legs though so I can’t comment on any other part of the body, but I’m sure if you itch from hair regrowth normally then you will probably itch with this one too since hair regrowth can’t be controlled. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. It’s great that you don’t experience regrowth itch…too bad for me…hahaha…Is it okay to ask what you use for armpit hair or you don’t have them?
I can’t seem to decide between this and an epilator…but you mentioned that epilators hurt so hmmm…hehe
Author
I use a normal razor for that area as it’s harder to reach properly. The difference is an epilator gets hold of the hair at the root and pulls it out, this is a shaver so it shaves the hair down to skin level. Hope that helps!
Thank you 🙂 and more power to you blog site!

Thank you 🙂
Hi Lorna, does your SatinShave still working? If not, how long until it lasted? Thank you.
Author
Hi, yes it still works! I don’t use it every day, but it still works fine as you charge it.
Can you use on face
Author
I’m not sure, I haven’t seen that as an option.
