Jimmy Choo Romy 100 Glitter Shoes Review

Jimmy Choo Romy 100 Glitter Shoes Review

I’m really excited to be sharing this review with you right now! I have fallen in love with these shoes and couldn’t wait to share them with you! These are the Jimmy Choo Romy 100 in Peacock Glitter and they’re literally one of the most sexiest and prettiest pair of shoes I have seen. I’m hoping the photos do them justice, but they don’t capture their beauty in real life as well unfortunately, but I’m sure you can see just how sparkly they are! They are part of the AW17 collection and feature the classic pointed toe and stiletto heel that the Romy is known for. This pair is in the blue ombre glitter, called Peacock, with a metallic blue heel and leather piping details. They’re of course made in Italy and are a one of a kind shoe, which I simply cannot fault, so here they are! I hope you enjoy my review and if you’re here because you’re looking to buy these shoes, I recommend them! I’d hurry with the purchase too as I know they keep selling out on most places and are only available online in two different stores now, which I’ve linked just below!

My Rating:
Fit – 9/10
Style – 10/10
Glitter – 10/10
Colour – 10/10
Quality – 10/10
Appeal – 10/10
Comfort – 8/10

The Design & Quality

Jimmy Choo did an absolutely fantastic design with the Romy! It comes in numerous heel heights (most commonly the 85 and 100) and the shape is absolutely perfect. It’s the ideal pointed toe stiletto which really elongates the legs, flatters the feet, and looks elegant at the same time. I’ve tried numerous stiletto heels like this and often they can either look amazing, or lackluster. I would actually go as far as to say that I like the Romy shape way more than I like the Christian Louboutin Pigalle style! There’s something about it that’s just so flattering and feminine, plus the toe box isn’t too small so your toes aren’t crushed and jammed inside. I couldn’t fault anything to do with the design of the Jimmy Choo Romy! I definitely want more of them!

They are also made in Italy and of an extremely high quality. The soles are made of a brushed leather and the insoles are a smooth leather, while all the stitching is completely perfect and both shoes are symmetrical. The glitter is all exact, in its unique way, and the metallic heel is definitely of a great quality metal. There’s literally no faults!

The Size

I have another pair of Jimmy Choo heels in brown suede with a smaller heel and I found them to be a little bit too tight in the 39 size, so that’s why I went with a 40 in these. I have size 39 in two other pairs of boots (the Melba) from the designer, but a 40 was definitely the right choice, it’s also the size I take in Pigalle if you need that for reference. Since these Romy heels have glitter all over them, they’re not stretchy or very giving, so even though they have some room in them at the back of my foot, that’s ideal for when the foot slips forward so they’re not too tight and causing pain. They’re very stiff, so I recommend going up half a size or so if your others are a tighter fit to begin with. I feel like these might cause some restriction if they’re too tight.

The Glitter & Colour

What first attracted me to these Jimmy Choo Romy 100 Heels was the glitter! These are called Peacock and they truly are mesmerizing. They reminded me so much of the ombre blue ocean of St. Ives that I’ve grown so fond of as the colour starts in a darker marine shade at the back and transitions seamlessly into an aqua/turquoise blue at the front. The gradient ombre effect that it has, which is all done in glitter, is something that I can never take my eyes off. A plus point is that it’s stuck on there really well and doesn’t really come off. I think there was just 2 little flakes which had come off during the making process and had sat inside the shoe, otherwise I’ve worn them a few times and they’re fine!

I’m finding myself just staring at these shoes and admiring the beauty! The Peacock name definitely suits them! They even have a metallic purple/blue heel to them, which you can see in the photos and I think it’s the perfect choice for the colour of the glitter. What Jimmy Choo used for these shoes was a metallic navy and peacock-blue dégradé coarse-glitter fabric, as you can see. Isn’t it amazing?

The Height & Comfort

I took these in the heel height of 100 which is ever so slightly over 4 inches. It might be around 4.1 I think, so they’re quite high. They’re what I would call a standard stiletto heel to be honest. Even though they are really high, they’re actually quite easy to walk in if you have experience with heels of this height. The size fits me well, so they’re not slipping off or making me bend my knees when I walk.

I find them quite comfortable, but not as comfortable as I would find a standard leather or suede Romy pump. The only reason for that is like I mentioned above, the fabric is quite stiff and doesn’t stretch out, so it’s not as soft against your feet as it could be, but honestly, having sized up makes them all the more better to walk in and the fact that they’re a peacock blue ombre glitter? Well that makes up for any lost points anywhere else!

Wearing The Shoes

Now I wanted to include a wearability section for these as I know they are not extremely versatile. I would class the Romy in Peacock Glitter as more of a dress shoe, one that you’d wear with a cocktail or evening dress or one that’s suitable for parties. I don’t think they’re a daytime shoe at all, but I am personally going to give that a good go myself! I’m planning on styling these with skinny jeans and a blazer as I think that’s the perfect blend in between both casual and fancy! The heels in general are probably one of the most versatile pairs of heels for a woman, but I think the glitter finish does narrow that down a bit. However, they do come in various different glitter colours! Some are much more easy to get away with than others and you’ll be stunned by the options! I know I was and I had a hard time choosing!

Buying The Jimmy Choo Romy

This particular pair of shoes I purchased on Farfetch last month when I had a discount code (they usually have them). They are quite pricey and have a retail amount of £475, but that is pretty good for Jimmy Choo and on the ever so slightly cheaper side for a glitter shoe from a high end designer label. As an example, a pair similar to this from Christian Louboutin would cost about £485 (and are nowhere near as pretty), so it’s an average price. I think this particular pair in the Peacock colour is only available now on Matches in the 100 height, but it is still available on Farfetch in the 85, which might be more suited to some of you. The other glitter colours are endless though! There’s a huge selection of them which you can see by clicking here. They might also be available in some of the Jimmy Choo boutiques, but I always find buying online so much easier, especially when you can find discount codes for the checkout, which you can’t do in the boutiques! If you also want a 10% off code for your first order on Farfetch, you can use my personal signup link here.

Overall Opinion

I’m sure you might have guessed that my overall opinion of the Jimmy Choo Romy 100 in Glitter is almost perfection! The colour and the glitter quality is second to none and they’re so delicious looking, you want to jump into them like an ocean! The metallic heel is stunning, the shape and style of the shoe is so flattering and elegant, it makes anyone’s feet look sexy (in my opinion) and they’re easy to walk in, given the height. I would perhaps make them less stiff in an ideal world, however I don’t think that’s possible since they’re glitter. I would recommend a pair of glitter pumps like this to everyone who wants a fancy pair of shoes, and I’m actually considering wearing these on my wedding day as I think they would make great bridal shoes which will just add a pop of hidden colour to my floor length dress. I hope you love these shoes as much as I do! Let me know what you think!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend 🙂

What a beautiful pair. I’ve been coveting these in gold for years now. Good to know about the sizing, though I think I had heard they run a little smaller before. Not about the stiffness though, but I guess being adorned in glitter I should have expected that.

Oh the gold pair are gorgeous! I LOVE those ones! Have you seen the multi glitter ones too? Those are lovely. But yeah, definitely a lot stiffer than the normal leather, but they’re still comfortable!

These look amazing! Sadly, I can never squeeze my wide feet in pointy shoes. I`m a size 4, but my feet are very wide and I swear to God, small size come ridiculously narrow at front.

Oh that’s such a shame! Yeah, I’ve noticed that with smaller sizes, they do look even more narrow in the front!

Wow these shoes are incredibly beautiful Lorna! The colour is so vivid and the glitter is lovely. I think they’d make a lovely choice of shoe to wear on your wedding. (Perhaps you’d have a more comfy pair of shoes on standby for dancing the night away!) Also, it sounds like you have a wedding dress picked out! I’m really keen to know what kind of dress you’ll wear, when the time is right!

    Lots of love Saba xx

Hopefully I will be sharing that with you soon, Saba! I’m actually planning some wedding inspired posts within a couple of months and then next year, hopefully sharing more about it! I’m not much of a dancer though and don’t plan on a party type thing after, so I won’t need any dancing shoes, ha ha. So pleased you like these ones though!

Wow that sounds great Lorna! I was wondering whether you’d be sharing any posts about wedding planning. I can’t wait to hear all about it and I look forward to that! xx
