The Red Boots Outfit
There’s been a little change around with my schedule as things haven’t quite gone to plan this week. I caught a cold/flu on Monday and have been incredibly ill (much like everyone else right now, I know) so I’ve been in bed a lot, suffering the rotten symptoms and have barely been able to work. I did put on Instagram and Twitter that I would be taking a break so I didn’t post for 2 days, and have taken a 4 day break on the blog as well, as resting up and not looking at screens was what had to be done. Thankfully I am feeling well enough to catch up on things and get some work done, but still struggling with even going out or just speaking without irritating my nose and throat.
I did have another post planned for publishing yesterday, but I haven’t even been able to make a start on any this week at all, so I’m using older photos. Adam and I actually shot these back in November and I wasn’t going to use them as we started shooting the photos to showcase the boots and once I saw how it looked on the camera, I decided to quit the photo shoot as I was freezing and I just didn’t like how the photos looked, or the outfit in general as the red’s didn’t match either. I think the main issue was the fact that my striped top underneath was blue and I had removed my scarf, so I made the mistake of not realising it would show through and it was really throwing the entire look off. I did edit the photos a while ago though and changed the blue top to grey, and cleaned things up, so out of the couple of angles I do have here, they’re not so bad. I’ve included some Bath scenery shots as well as some arty ones of the boots, just to make things a bit different and bring in some more photography.
I was wearing my River Island Aviator Coat (which you’ve seen before here) with my James Jeans Skinny Jeans in Black, styled with red accessories in the form of my DUO Dottie Red Boots (formerly known as Ted & Muffy as they switched the name back to the original DUO) and my Cambridge Satchel Poppy Bag. I don’t often wear bright pops of red (unless it’s a rainy day outfit like this) as I’m more into burgundy, but the bright red shade on these boots was too pretty to pass up! You know how much of a fan of the brand I am and I always appreciate working with them.
So you’re getting a spur of the moment post here that wasn’t planned for this day at all, but all in all, I actually don’t mind how everything turned out and once edited, I quite like them now. I’m going to think of different ways I can wear these boots though and show them off properly, so I’m thinking a dress might be a better option when the weather warms up – what do you think? I’m hoping to get things back on track on Monday with my posting schedule and I wish all of you health too! There’s some seriously nasty bugs flying around right now, so be as cautious as you can. I’m OCD (not a careless use of the term, I do have it) with germs and it still got me unfortunately, so be as careful as you can. Let me know what you think of the outfit and thank you for your support as always. Lorna xx.

Sorry to hear you’ve been sick! I hope that you feel better soon! We’ve all been sick here too, this was supposed to be my last week of leave where I finished tidying everything up, and I’ve pretty much sat on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and barely moving. Even sitting at the computer for a while seems like too much. I’m hoping I’m well enough for work next week!
Even though the reds don’t match exactly I do really like this outfit – red is such a fun statement colour to wear! I think you could wear these red boots with fleece lined tights and a dress, maybe with a moto jacket and a red scarf, for another great winter outfit!
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend! Another extreme weather weekend here. So hot, we are staying near the air conditioner. Very different from your weather!

Sorry you’re sick too, Mica! Everyone is feeling it so bad, I only know 2 people who haven’t caught it so far and I’m pretty sure it’s only a matter of time. I hope you feel better for work too!
I actually like that idea of wearing them with a dress and tights, I’d had to think about what type of dress to wear them with, but I do have a winter red scarf as well, a primary red shade, so perhaps I can put something together when it’s a little warmer. My outfits are so limited at the moment, I’m not getting to wear anything I an planning as the weather is ice cold, I just wouldn’t be warm enough in what I have chosen. I’m hoping it warms up soon!
These boots are very pretty! I think that red boots are becoming a huge blogger trend. I bought some boots last year. They fit perfect to checked prints.
I like your jacket, too .-*

I love red boots! They’re awesome!
Feel better soon, Lorna! This time of the year is always the worst for catching illnesses. But I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself. 🙂
Wow! This outfit is beautiful! I’m literally drooling over your boots! Haha. Red shoes are one of my weaknesses!

Thank you so much, Lindsey 🙂 Glad you like it!
For an impromptu styling, this works pretty well; neither the burgundy bag nor the red boots are enough to drown out each other.
Hope you get well soon.

Thankfully I’ve escaped this round of bugs so far this month but I certainly know how bad they’ve been as both of my parents had one of them for over a week. Maybe I’ve escaped as I’ve not really been mixing with people very much lately. Anyway, I’m sorry to read that you’ve been feeling unwell. 🙁 I hope you’re fully better at the time of me writing this. 🙂
Those red boots are so bright and cheerful. 🙂 It’s interesting that they are almost the same shade as the postbox. Though I’m wondering what was on your feet when that shot was taken. 😀
The whole outfit is great. I’m glad that these photos made it onto your site. 🙂

Ha ha, on my feet was trainers that I had. I will take them around with me sometimes if I’m in high heels and have to do a lot of walking as it kills my feet 😀
I am feeling much better. I’m still quite snotty and my voice doesn’t sound right, and still tired a lot, but much, much better. I smiled earlier when I thought ‘wow, I’m feeling well, I forgot what that was like’ lol.
Oh, good plan. Very practical. I find when I do lots of walking that I kill my socks more than I kill my feet. 😉
Yeah, it’s funny how these things suddenly start and then end almost as suddenly too. 🙂 I’m glad that you’re feeling better anyway.
Author
Thank you 🙂 Maybe you better start taking spare socks, ha ha 😀
These boots are wild, I love the way they brighten and lift the entire look! Wonderful.
