London In Springtime & Some Updates
If you follow me on Instagram (@LornaRaindrops) then you will know that I took a trip to London on Tuesday 17th with Adam for a very important reason. I’ve mentioned briefly in some posts that I’ve been waiting to see a specialist called Dr. Alan Hakim and his waiting list was extremely long due to his popularity in his field, so I waited patiently for the day to arrive, but I was also filled with nerves. The night before was just a bundle of anxiety and preparation for me, and then once we were actually on the train and travelling, I settled down a lot more.
We had to go to the Hospital of St. Mary and Elizabeth for my appointment at 2pm, so we had a little time beforehand to walk around and take in the sights before getting a taxi. I don’t go to London that often and when I used to it was always for business trips and rushing around so I haven’t done a whole lot of exploring the architecture before. I only managed to take a couple of snaps as I was extremely preoccupied, but I think they turned out really pretty and I wanted to share them with you.
Anyway, the trip was a complete success (in more ways than one) as I now finally have a diagnoses of what’s wrong with me and why I am suffering so many symptoms. It’s only taken 30 years! I plan on writing a big health blog post all about this on the 26th, so I need a few days to be able to get everything written down. I’m a mixture of emotions from relief and happiness to being overwhelmed, sad, and annoyed, all at the same time, but I feel that I am finally on the right path now and can hopefully make some improvements. I’m currently sat with a 72 hour heart monitor attached to me until Monday as I’m having more tests done, but definitely check back for the blog post next week!
Now, you may remember from my designer wish list blog post that I had wanted a specific Celine bag for so long, and have been selling my items and saving for it since last year. I decided that since I would be in London then I would purchase my bag at the same time, after my appointment. Thinking it would give me something else to look forward to and something to take my mind off of a day of medical examinations and worry.
It actually ended up a bit more stressful than I thought though as last week on Friday, I was looking online at Celine and I saw they had removed the bag I wanted! I panicked a bit and Adam called the boutique for me to see if it was still being sold. They didn’t have any at all and there was only one place in England that had it – Dover Street Market – and it was the only one left. Adam called them up and the guy there was so kind, he reserved it until the Tuesday for me. So on top of the anxiety I had about the hospital visit, I then had anxiety about the bag because I was worried if it might have sold by accident or what it was going to look like in person since I was now committed to getting it. I then found out it was the only one left in the entire of Europe, so I am extremely lucky to be able to have got it! I will of course reveal the bag to you soon and tell you the entire story, as well as review it, but I’m excited I now have it to go with my Celine Nano Luggage in Dune.
After we picked it up, we then took a walk to look at the other boutiques we love like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Hermes, Dior, Saint Laurent (where Adam picked up the trainers he’d wanted for months) and then onto Selfridges, before heading to The Cumberland for some dinner. The dinner unfortunately ran over time though and we missed our train, meaning we had to get a later one, but that wasn’t too much of an issue except for the fact I was exhausted – mentally and physically.
When we got home, my legs pretty much gave out and I couldn’t move. The next day was filled with limping about because of my hip and back, but to cut a long story short, it was a productive, but exhausting day. Thank goodness it was warm enough, but not too hot, and the rain held off so that wasn’t an issue as well. If you would like to see the full trip from the day, you can watch one of my highlight stories on my Instagram (app version only) called London. Otherwise, enjoy these photos and stay tuned for next week when I reveal everything. Lorna xx.

Thank you, Ian! Yes, finally found out everything about it. There’s no cure, but hopefully with the right management, I can relieve some of the symptoms more. And yes, I think the bag was meant to be for sure!
You got some beautiful photos! It’s wonderful you have some answers with your health problems too, it sounds like a really productive trip, even if you didn’t get to see the bag you wanted in person! Pretty cool you got the last one in all of Europe though!
Hope you are having a great weekend 🙂 It’s been a bit cooler and rainy this week here but I’m not complaining, I’m excited Autumn is starting to arrive at last 🙂

Yeah, I’m really glad that it’s been diagnosed, finally! I will be sharing it with you soon!
Having a diagnosis is always to be preferred to spending all one’s time wondering. (There’s a weird genetic anomaly which got one of my brothers and several cousins; it wasn’t even discovered until the 1960s, and doctors are not always aware of it.) I do hope you’ll be feeling better soon.

What was that one if you don’t mind me asking, Charles?
Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, A1AD for short.

Thank you so much 🙂
I’m very pleased for you that you’ve got an expert diagnosis at long last. Hopefully this is now very much the beginning of better times ahead. I’m sure it will be. 🙂 So much truth in the old saying of “better late than never”.
These are lovely photos. The blossom is gorgeous and I love the pink tint that you have on these photos (whether natural or by design I’m not quite sure but it’s lovely). 🙂 There are certainly a lot of really pretty old building in parts of London aren’t there? Especially in some of the rather hidden areas, I think.

I’m glad you noticed! It’s a tint I put on in Lightroom actually, I’m liking the effect it gives on the photos for Spring, just adds more colour and vibrancy, while being mature 🙂
I’m hoping things can improve. There’s no cure, but hopefully things can just be improved with general day to day living 🙂
Hope you’re OK now with your diagnosis results, and hopefully everything will be taken care of carefully… I wish you success and perfect health conditions to you and your loved ones!

Oh gosh, Lorna, what a relief to finally have a diagnosis. Hopefully this will help! If I remember correctly, my mom and you were having very similar symptoms. I’m looking forward to sharing your post with her, as they still have not been able to diagnosis her symptoms. And PHEW! So glad you got your bag as well!
Your photos are so beautiful too! I am so jealous of your spring blooms! Haha.
Hope you’re having a great week!
