Gucci Brixton Horsebit Leather Loafers Review
I’m really excited to do this review for you! I had been eyeing up the Gucci Brixton Loafers since 2018! I own two pairs of Gucci Princetown slip on mules, and I adore them, but I had always wanted a comfortable pair of loafers with the backs on, but never managed to get a cheaper pair that fit that bill. I have sensitive skin on the back of my heels and everything would always give me blisters! Anyway, last month, I finally bit the bullet and decided to purchase the Gucci Brixton in White and here we are! Let me get to the review for you!
Sizing:
In terms of sizing, the Gucci Brixton is very true to size. I took a size 39.5 consistently in my two pairs of Princetown loafers, and I am a 39.5 in the Brixton as well. I vary between a 39 and 40 in most brands, and having tried those sizes too, 39 was way too small, and 40 was too big, so the 39.5 is perfect. If you’re like me and you vary between two sizes, try the half size and it should be good! Their loafers are quite narrow, so if you do have wider feet, you might want to size up, that’s what I’ve heard!
Style:
The Brixton is an absolute classic! It’s the perfect shaped loafer in my opinion as it looks classy, minimal, stylish, and smart, but it can also be worn casually. The one thing that attracted me to this particular design over the Jordaan is the fact that the back is collapsible, so you can wear these as a slip on mule as well as a loafer with a back. Having this two in one design was just what I wanted! The gold Horsebit design across the top is classic of Gucci, and they’re just absolutely perfect! The stitching is perfect and beautiful, and the minimal design is so versatile!
Leather & Comfort:
Now the leather was what sold me on the Gucci Brixton in the first place! I remember always looking at them in the boutiques and feeling the back of the heel. It’s like butter! The leather is so soft and pliable because it’s needed for making it collapsible, making the comfort level beyond amazing! As I mentioned above, I have very sensitive and delicate skin on the backs of my heels and I get blisters so easily from most shoes. Finding a pair of nice loafers that don’t cut my feet has been a task I’ve struggled with my entire life, seriously! The backs of most loafers are so stiff! I give these loafers 10/10 for comfort and quality of leather, they’re that good! The soles are quite thin, so they’re not plush under the foot, but other than that, I adore them for the comfort!
Versatility & Colour:
I also give these Brixton loafers a 10/10 for versatility in this review, purely because of my choice in colour – white. I was considering the Mud shade and Black, but I decided on white as it goes with every colour of jean that I own, and it’s perfect for Summery days when I want to wear shorts and dresses! I can’t think of anything that these wouldn’t go with! Obviously if you pick a bright shade like pink or red, the versatility lessens, but white is perfect! It complements the gold horsebit, and the design of the loafer itself is extremely versatile as it’s so minimal and classic. They don’t make your feet look overly large or too small in any way, they are sleek and flattering.
Price:
Now the price has increased a good amount since 2018, as they now cost £575, which is pretty expensive for a loafer, but it’s on par with Gucci’s other prices. Honestly the price was what put me off in the first place because I was convinced that I could find a cheaper pair of white loafers (which I did, I own the Sam Edelman pair here) but they have all cut my feet and given me blisters, and don’t have the exact perfect shape that I was looking for, like Gucci. So, with that in mind, I decided to save up and purchase these for £575 and in all honesty, I am glad I did. They’re worth it for the comfort on my feet and not receiving blisters! So if you have sensitive feet like me, I recommend saving for these!
Overall Opinion:
My overall opinion on this Gucci Brixton review is super positive! As you can tell. I purchased these myself after saving up my money, and I can’t fault them. The quality is great, as you’d expect, and the comfort is incredible! The white shade is a warm white, not a cool tone, so that makes them perfect for Summertime and more complementary to all skin tones. I do have one worry about them being white and that’s the fact that they might get dirty easily, but that’s an issue with anything white in general. They genuinely do get a 10/10 from me and I’ve already worn them 3 times! What do you think of the Gucci Brixton? You can buy them just below!
