30 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

lorna-burford-hair-raindrops-of-sapphire-lornaraindrops

UPDATE – I wrote this post back on the 15th March 2013! 12 years ago! I wanted to go back through it and see if the answers were still true! So here is an updated take on this post for you all! My new answers and corrections are in orange for you all to compare. Let me know if you’d like me to do some updated Q&A posts too!

I thought it might be fun to state 30 things and facts about me that you wouldn’t know! I have listed them below and I think it might give you a bit more of an insight as to what I’m like, a long with my other Q&A’s that I have done (which you can read here). I would love to know more facts about some of my regular readers though if you want to leave some in the comments!

1 – I used to be a tom boy for the most part of my childhood.

2 – I tend to get on better with guys more than girls. Tends to be less drama lol.

3 – June will be the first time I’ve ever travelled out of the country (I will let you know about this trip soon). I went to Italy! I’ve since been out of the country many, many times!

4 – I secretly adore the Welsh accent! I no longer do!

5 – I bite my nails a lot – which is such a bad habit. I haven’t bitten my nails in years! Not since I got Invisalign actually! So we’re looking at 4-5 years? I love having long nails now! I kicked that habit!

6 – I used to be obsessed and infatuated with Britney Spears, The Spice Girls and Boyzone in my childhood.

7 – My middle name is Margaret, named after my Irish nan I never got to meet unfortunately, but apparently I am a lot like her 🙂

8 – I’m a mix of half English, quarter Irish and quarter Welsh.

9 – I used to live in platform trainers when I was younger, even when I was a tomboy.

10 – I have a really bad allergy to cornflour. This turned out to be untrue! I am actually intolerant to wheat and dairy, but I have MCAS so my stomach can flare up from many things!

11 – I like to think my style is a lot like Jessica Alba’s and Hilary Duff’s. This is no longer true. My style moreso resembles my own take on fashion. I’m not even sure who I would compare it too.

12 – I get told I look like Taylor Swift nearly every single week lol, which I don’t really mind 😀 I did used to! We had the same hairstyle back then! I haven’t been told this in a LONG time!

13 – The smell of men’s strong deodorant/aftershave makes me nauseous. Yes! Chemical smells in general, including perfume or cleaning products, or air fresheners etc., give me a reaction, which is due to the MCAS.

14 – I have a very strong interest in the medical profession and love surgical shows, especially the ones with Dr. Jessen. I haven’t seen one of his shows in a long time, but yes, my medical love still persists!

15 – I’m fascinated by history, especially the Egyptians and Romans! Yes! And now that I’ve got to experience so much of it with Christen, I’m even more fascinated! The Medeavil period is amazing too.

16 – I’ve dyed my hair almost every colour imaginable in the past, but I prefer to keep it to my natural blonde now. I keep it half natural with bleach balayage about once a year.

17 – I used to have my hair about 2 inches long (boy/pixie cut) during my tom boy phase.

18 – I generally tend to care for animals more than I do humans, it’s more like an instinct as all safety for myself goes out the window if I need to help an animal, I’ve almost been run over by a truck twice. Yikes.

19 – I hate swimming for two reasons – I almost drowned 3 times as a child and the smell of chlorine makes me ill. My skin also wrinkles up to be painful if I’m in water for more than 10 minutes, so I still don’t love swimming. Water parks are more fun as I’m in and out of water.

20 – I used to work in a flower shop when I was 14.

21 – Art was my favourite subject at school, but I don’t get time to paint or draw anymore.

22 – I’m really OTT with planning and organizing when it comes to trips. I’m a lot more relaxed now as I tend to have my anxiety under control. I’m not as anal as that and more free flowing.

23 – I’ve been through a lot of illnesses throughout my life and still am, but I choose not to display any of this on my blog as I am just a regular 24 year old girl 🙂 This couldn’t be further from the truth now! I’ve been very open with my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, my Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome and my mental health. I didn’t see any point in hiding it as it impacts my life a lot, including my blog, and I realised it’s so important to speak about these things to help other people as well. I’ve managed to give a lot of advice to a lot of people regarding Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so that’s a great thing.

24 – I try to keep positive about everything now which is why I generally like peace and quiet (I’m not a party person) to keep my brain calm, as I’ve been through so much emotional distress over the years it’s important for me to relax. This is still true. But I do enjoy more fun things. Still not a party person and I don’t drink alcohol, but I do like doing more things.

25 – If I was rich (which is not even close lol) and could fly (again, not happening) I would love to go on an travelling adventure! I have since flown on a plane probably 24 times or more? I was so scared of it back then! I have been on many adventures. So this is a statement I can look back on and smile about.

26 – I follow rules to the absolute maximum as I can’t cope knowing I might have done something wrong. This isn’t so true anymore. I still like to make sure I’m doing something right, but I’m not so anxiety driven now, so I’m definitely more relaxed about this.

27 – I can’t be around someone who smokes, the smell is absolutely awful.

28 – Cats always seem to love me, even outside or temperamental ones, they always come up to me. I’m sure I was a cat in a previous life! I couldn’t not be around cats 🙂

29 – I love to sing and record songs/covers and I used to play guitar. I’m trying to learn piano now too.

30 – I passed my driving test on the first go after only 20 lessons, but I don’t drive anymore.

This is me now (below), 12 years after the first picture.

    Hey gorgeous,

I loved reading this post and feel we have a lot in common. However, I seem to repel cats which is disappointing because they’re my favorite animal!! 🙁 haha.

Your blog is so lovely and full of inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Its so interesting to know that you used to play guitar and paint (I play the piano but also want to learn guitar; I started teaching myself several months ago but I’m finding it so difficult.) and also for some reason that you’ve worked in a flower shop – I don’t know why I find that fascinating lol. And not that I have anything against Taylor Swift, but I think you’re a lot nicer.

ah I used to be the biggest tom boy too!! It’s great getting to know you a little bit more! I’m planning on doing a similar post soon so don’t be surprised if you read some similar stats (since I also lived in platforms for the majority of my teens haha).

    Hope you’re great!
