Thinking Of Getting A Fringe/Bangs

First of all I wanted to apologise for not posting very much lately, I was in London yesterday and I have been so tired from all of the traveling and things that I haven’t been able to make many posts.

I’m finally getting my hair cut tomorrow and I want to try a completely new style. I’ve always wanted to try a fringe/bangs but I have been too scared to. I used to have a heavy one when I was really young but the change is something I am frightened to do in case I don’t like it. I decided though, that I am going to go for it.

I found these pictures of the two Taylors (Taylor Swift and Taylor Momsen) and I like both of their styles. I am only going to have about an inch or so off of the length as I want to keep it long, so I am thinking that maybe Taylor Swifts hairstyle below might be one I want to go for. It’s a difficult choice though, what do you all think? Should I get a fringe/bangs? I’ve already had the side sweeping one for a long time, but I decided this time, it’s a full one or nothing!

My first conscious bangs (I’m omitting those ones which I had when I was little by my mom’s decision) was self-made during summer holidays when I was at my grandparents. I was 12. It was a disaster.
Since then, I had it done a couple of years ago and it was such a pain for me to grow back, I’ve abandoned idea for now.
I bet you will look super-cute in it! 🙂 You can buy now fake-fringes on eBay – maybe try it out first to get a feel how you’ll look like. 🙂 X

I don’t think I would be able to get a clip on one in time for tomorrow. I have tried bringing some of my back hair to the front or sweeping some across my fore head and I think it looks ok 🙂 I guess I will see tomorrow 🙂 That does sound like it would be a disaster though lol cutting your own!

I just got them a few months ago and I love them! at first I thought I’d only be able to wear them straight across but I clip them back or wear them brushed to the side as well. Try it! Your hair will always grow back!

I think some people look amazing with them but others don’t. I hope I am brave enough to go through with it lol!

Go for it, Lorna! I’ve done it and I tell you, there isn’t a hair cut that will make your eyes look bigger or more prominent then this style of bang! I loved mine. The only thing is that they really grow out fast and it can be annoying having them hang in your eyes! If you do go through with it, ask you stylist if you can come in for just a bang trim in a few weeks. She might do it for free. Most stylists I know would.. or wouldn’t charge much if you are a long-time client. I’m excited to see what you choose! Yay!

Oh she actually said to me before that I could go in every now and then to have it trimmed because it will grow fast. I will let you all know tomorrow what it looks like I guess lol! I hope it does make my eyes look bright and big!

I say go for it!! If it really is sucky you can always pull them to the side with a clip or braid them. Bangs always grow really fast and you never know unless you try! Good luck!

I think that’s true, I am tempted by the fact it grows fast in case I don’t like it!

  5. November 17, 2011 / 11:18 pm

I absolutely say go for it!! Like everyone said they will grow out fast and if you don’t like them it will be just a phase. Let it be one of those fashion risks that I know is going to be awesome 😉

Go for it Lorna, I’ve wanted one for a few years now but I’ve been really busy and my super curly hair would mean that I’d have to be straightening my hair all the time, which could damage it, so when I decide to go for it, I’ll have to be sure that I have the time to dedicate to a lot of hair maintenance lol (curly girls have it rough). Don’t go for anything choppy or quirky, go for the classic full eye grazing fringe (to me that’s the most flattering, I don’t like those supposedly “quirky” shorter ones), and also make sure you leave too longer pieces at the side. Celeb’s bangs that Ive liked are Rihanna’s (when she had it), Daisy Lowe’s, Keira Knightley’s, Taylor Swift’s, Taylor Momsen’s, Lea Michele’s (love hers), Christina Ricci, Nicole Richie, Vannessa hudgens and back in the day Francoise Hardy. Can’t believe I had such a long response for bangs lol.

I went for it and I now have one and I really really don’t like it 🙁 I’ve clipped it to the side because I don’t like it so much. I regret doing it already. I can see what you mean yujia, the instant regret. I feel like it makes my head look square and wrong 🙁

It’s a tough choice, but I would also go with Taylow Swift. It just looks so classic. Good luck and post some pictures of your new haircut.
Thanks for visiting my blog and your sweet comment!

Do it! If you don’t like it you can always pin it to the side until it grows a bit longer.

  10. November 18, 2011 / 4:03 am

I had bangs last years. Then I really regret for it. I suggest you buy a false fringe. If you like, you can wear. If not, just take it off. Hah

thank you for your lovely comment on my blog, Lorna! and you are so cute! as for the bangs – I too have always wanted to try it but never had the guts… i say go for it if you think you can pull it off, it’s all about the attitude! just be prepared for a bit more work, i hear bangs are a lot more high maintenance.. but will also give you a chance to do a lot more new looks! 🙂 look forward to seeing how they turn out! 🙂

Taylor swift would be my vote. Loooking forward to a double denim post. How about a collection of denim shirts? Different styles etc. Take care. N

I will have to see how I feel about it, I am still really unsure about it. I think it needs to be gotten used to at the moment still.

Nic if you like the denim posts you can look on DenimBlog as many celebs do double denim there. I only have about 4 denim shirts so it wouldn’t be much of a collection post really.

Lorna! I really hope you’re getting used to your bangs! I’m sure they look lovely, but will just take some getting used to. Are you using a product on them? Perhaps a wax or pomade? If they seem to flat (mine used to be like that) I’d always tease them underneath, and make sure that they were smooth on top. That would give them some body for me! I’m eager to see photos and am absolutely sure that you look lovely. How couldn’t you?

Oh, by the way, I just saw your recipe for the banana shake.. yummy! I don’t know why I just noticed this! I’m going to give it a try! =)

I will show you guys soon, I promise. I’m just not feeling ok about it yet. I think I have too much of a fringe really. I feel like it’s too full and heavy. Oh that banana shake recipe is on the theme of my blog automatically!

      • November 18, 2011 / 9:25 pm

Oh, haha! That’s funny (about the recipe), I almost asked if you had a section of your blog dedicated to recipes!

As for the bangs, it sometimes takes me a couple of days after a new cut to feel like I know how to style it.. You might just need some time to get used to it. And, remember that if you’re like most women, you’re your worst critic! I’m sure you look beautiful! =)

Yeah I think there are different recipes if I pick a different colour layout, it’s pretty cool! And everyone else has said it looks really good and suits me but yeah, I am my worst critic on it really 🙂

February 4th is my birthday and I am getting a full on thick fringe like Taylor’s. You look classy in your photo up top. I think a fringe adds dimension and mystery to a face and it does something extremely sexy to the eyes. I’m going for it! I can’t wait; I am so excited.
