Welcoming The Year 2016
It doesn’t feel like that long ago when I was doing my roundup of 2014 and talking about 2015 as a new year. This whole entire year has flown by and I can’t believe just how fast it’s gone now that I think about it. It’s kind of scary to think that I will be 28 this year and before I know it, I’m going to be 30! Wow. In time honoured tradition, I wanted to do a roundup of my favourite outfits and things that happened during each month of 2015, which you can see below, but I also wanted to take the time out to go through a few changes and ideas that I’m having for this brand new 2016 year.
So what’s going to be new for 2016 on Raindrops of Sapphire? Due to me having had a lot of health problems over the last 6 months or so, I really need to focus on getting better both physically and mentally and that means not stretching myself and pushing myself to the limit. I will say, in all honesty, that fashion blogging isn’t as glamorous for me or what the photos lead people to believe, I actually do struggle quite a lot with the photoshoots during the Winter months. Living in England makes it very difficult to get the right lighting, avoid rain, avoid wind and to not freeze my butt off while taking photos, so for the rest of the Winter months, I will only be posting 2 blog posts a week. One of which will be an outfit (but I will make sure these are quality and the best they can be) and the other will be a personal or fashion related post. During the Spring and Summer when it warms up, I will be able to pick back up again, but for now, I have to take my health seriously and concentrate on not making myself vulnerable. I’m hoping to keep expanding my other blogs as well, keep on growing those as my businesses so I will be posting a lot more magazine type articles on these websites, which you can definitely check out and enjoy too.
For 2016 in general, I’d really love to travel more in the Summer with Adam. I desperately want to go back to St. Ives as I loved it there and for Christmas we are hopefully planning a little getaway in a festive lodge and enjoy a really nice holiday there. I just think it’s going to be a big and beautiful year hopefully! I can’t wait to see what opportunities might crop up from brands and companies and what events there might be in general. I’m sure it’s going to be great. I need to work on getting my eating and stamina back up again after being ill for so long as well, so that’s something I’m really going to focus on and maybe document more for you on here. Do you have any plans or goals for 2016? Or are there any different types of posts you would love to see from me? You can see my roundup of last year below.
January
January was a fairly quiet month for me in 2015 since it was the start to the year, but here are some of my favourite looks that I wore after collaborating with a few stores.
February
February was a very big month for me as I re-designed my blog and logo, creating a layout that I absolutely love and still have today. My fitness and health was in its peak actually and I felt really good about myself, was fairly positive and worked with quite a few brands. These are some of the best looks that I wore during February and I find it hard to pick a favourite, but maybe the first look, with burgundy and grey.
March
March saw me celebrate my blogs 5th birthday, and I can’t believe it will be 6 in 2 months! I got to collaborate with many different brands as well on these gorgeous outfits, I even got my first pair of Valentino espadrilles, and I styled my mum for Mother’s Day.
April
April was the biggest month of 2015 for me. It was crazy busy! I got my Lorna collaboration jeans with Yoga Jeans released, I attended Bristol Fashion Week, I got my very first LV bag – the Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Epi Fuchsia Leather and attended the UK Blog Awards in London as a finalist. It was a fantastic month and I’m really happy that everything went so well for April.
May
After the busy month of April, May was fairly quiet and I focused mainly on enjoying the warmer weather and different types of outfits. I chopped my hair shorter for the first time in years and I also worked with WWF on their Wear It Wild campaign, to help save the animals.
June
June was amazing! I went on holiday with Adam to St. Ives where the sea was blue and the sand was soft. I enjoyed a relaxing holiday there and I also got my first pair of Chanel espadrilles after waiting for over a year! It was a lovely, relaxing month in which I also finally came out to you all about having the illness M.E. and was overwhelmed by the huge amount of support.
July
During the month of July, I felt like I really found myself. I was enjoying the Summer, the fresh air and being outside, eating wild fruits. I started a journey on enlightenment after reading a couple of books and I was seeing things really clearly, enjoying contentment and happier days. July was lovely, such a relaxing month for me and one that I look back on with happy thoughts.
August
In August I celebrated my 27th birthday and did some pottery painting for that. I started doing my outfit shoots a lot more professionally and choosing more polished and stand out pieces to shoot, as well as collaborate with more brands.
September
September saw me working with some great brands, collaborating in more inventive ways and I also got my very first Chanel bag, the Chanel Small Boy Bag in Velvet Bordeaux after saving up for months and months. I’m so happy to have this!
October
October was fun! I visited Wales, the Dr. Who exhibition, Cheddar, Burnham on Sea and spent a lot of time with Adam. I was battling illness for a while though, but I was happy to be doing great things.
November
In November I was ill again, with the pneumonia, which meant I didn’t get chance to do any photo shoots, but I posted about the Ted & Muffy boots event which I went to in October and I shared with you my Wonder Woman costume which was so much fun.
December
Finally, December. I managed to get my very first Chloe Drew Bag in Motty Grey after wanting one for a year. I got a beautiful All Saints coat and my All Saints Papin Leather Jacket! I shared with you my Elf Outfit and my Christmas Week roundup as well and got to work with John Greed and Swarovski. It’s been a tough couple of months with health, but I’m keeping optimistic about the future!

It’s nice to see all of these lovely photos and outfits again. Some are big favourites of mine, of course, but all of them are fabulous. 🙂 In some cases my memory has been jogged about outfits I had forgotten – but the metallic dress can’t be displaced as my absolute favourite. 😀
Sometime this month it will be a year since I started to read your blog. I don’t know exactly when so now is as good a time as any to mention it. 😉 It’s always a pleasure to come here. You maintain an astonishingly high standard of content here with your wonderfully beautiful photos and your exceptionally well written and expert articles – plus the friendly community atmosphere that you have created of course. 🙂
You are truly inspirational, Lorna, and I wish you and Adam every happiness and continuing success for 2016 and I look forward to all that you’ll post here in the coming 12 months. 🙂
As for approaching 30… Well, if only I could! Lol 😉

This is a lovely post Lorna, and it’s great to look back on all your highlights from 2015. All of the images and various looks are absolutely stunning. You accomplished so much, even while battling illness, so you should feel really proud of yourself for that.
It’s understandable that you want to prioritise your wellbeing and reduce some of your workload for the blog. Looking after your health is a must.
The quality of your posts is always superb and very inspiring.
p.s – I adore the bunny ears!
