Stutterheim Mosebacke Burgundy Raincoat Review + Outfit

Stutterheim Mosebacke Raincoat With Skinny Jeans & Golden Goose

This is a post that I have been excited to put together for a while now. It’s no secret that I love rain coats as I’ve mentioned it numerous times before and own a little collection (much needed here in the UK) but a brand that had always been on my radar and one that I fell in love with when I saw it in Harvey Nichols some time ago was Stutterheim. They’re a Swedish designer/premium rainwear brand and they are incredible! They have a timeless design, are extremely functional and are made from high quality materials, so you really can’t go wrong.

Obviously burgundy is one of my favourite colours and I can never get enough of it, but a burgundy raincoat was something that was lacking in my collection. When I saw how amazing Selena Gomez looked in her Stutterheim Mosebacke Burgundy Raincoat (see here), I knew it was the one I wanted. The intense burgundy shade looked incredible and the fit of the Mosebacke looked really unique, so I was definitely loving this raincoat and obsessing over it for a couple of weeks. I’m really glad I got to collaborate with Stutterheim here and can’t recommend it enough to you! I know I’ve already shared this raincoat on Instagram and one of you bought one too with my discount code, but I’m going to do a mini review for you just below (under the next image) so you can get an idea of the coat before buying, as well as seeing my outfit that I styled it with.

15% Off Code: RAINDROPSXSTUTTERHEIM – Valid on anything until March 11th 2018.

I actually chose to wear this raincoat with my GAP Long Sleeve Top in White, my Topshop Jamie Skinny Jeans in Grey, and my Golden Goose Superstar Trainers. I thought a casual look like this was ideal and I’ve always been a fan of the grey, white and burgundy combination. It also suits black as well so you will be seeing it again with black skinny jeans for sure. I know I mentioned Golden Goose on my 2018 designer wish list, and I’m excited that I was able to get a pair. They’re extremely comfortable and so stylish, they actually make my feet look smaller instead of bigger! I will be doing a review on them in March, so stay tuned for that. What do you think of my outfit? Comment and let me know as always, and don’t forget to use my 15% off discount code!

Stutterheim Mosebacke Rain Coat Review

The Mosebacke Fit & Size – For those of you unfamiliar with Stutterheim, in their classic raincoat collection they do 2 iconic fits: Mosebacke and Stockholm. The Stockholm is a straight, unisex fit and very normal of a raincoat, whereas the Mosebacke I would describe as more feminine as it’s A-Line. It is unisex as well, but I loved how this fitted because it flares out into a triangular shape and has a really unique fit to it, making it more intriguing and interesting. It flares out from the chest so when it’s buttoned up it looks like this (see here). I wasn’t sure how well that would fit me since I do have a larger chest, but was quite surprised with how flattering it was. I’m usually a UK size 8 in coats or jackets and I took this one in a size XXS as they run bigger. It has a very snug fit and is fitted, which is how I like it, but if you want to be able to fit knitwear underneath, I recommend an XS as a UK 8. I am planning on wearing this during the summer though so my size is fine.

The Burgundy Colour & Details – Now burgundy is a shade that is often hard to get right. Sometimes it can be too orange or brown, or too red, or it can have more purple undertones to it. The Stutterheim burgundy is gorgeous! It’s a matte shade and doesn’t have any depth to it because of the material, but it’s the perfect shade of burgundy to me. An in-between version of the different types of burgundy which makes it really versatile and beautiful. I was definitely impressed with it when I opened the packaging! It does come in about 15 other colours though so if this one isn’t for you, there definitely will be one suited. Regarding the details, it features a large hood to keep your head completely covered, a silver button front (there’s no zip), two side pockets, drawstrings on the hood, and a pretty white fabric lining so your skin isn’t against the rubber. It’s very classic and minimal, a simple and elegant design that I’m fond of.

The Rubber Material – It’s made from a rubberized coating in 100% PVC on a cotton/poly membrane (52% Cotton and 48% Polyester). Designed in Stockholm, Sweden and made in Poland. It’s a really well made rubber and has a slight scent to it, but it’s not sticky in anyway and doesn’t stick together when it’s folded. As it’s matte, it has more of a powdered appearance. It’s very waterproof to the point that the water doesn’t just roll off like it would on glass, but it disperses a bit and spreads around so your legs don’t just get drenched. You can tell it’s of a high standard.

Is It Comfortable? – It’s very comfortable! I’ve worn it numerous times and have no issues with it. It did take some getting used to the A-Line Mosebacke shape though as I did swipe a few things off the shelf when I went past, but it’s really easy wearing and nice against your skin too. I have no complaints at all. The sleeves are slimmer fitting so it is flattering, but not so much that it’s restricting.

My Overall Opinion – I absolutely LOVE the Stutterheim Mosebacke Raincoat! I would actually give it 10/10 in terms of raincoats. I love everything about it. Even Adam (who isn’t a rainwear fan at all) loves it on me as it doesn’t look childish. It’s really mature. It’s comfortable. It has a unique fit and an elegant look to it. The burgundy is beautiful, and it’s of such a high quality. It’s easily one of my favourite rain coats, if not my favourite one! Since it’s unisex, it means all my readers are suited to Stutterheim too! What did you think of my review? Have any of you tried the brand? Click here to buy it.

15% Off Code: RAINDROPSXSTUTTERHEIM – Valid on anything until March 11th 2018.

Oh very nice indeed. 🙂 The shape and style is so unusual. I totally understand Adam’s point about this particular raincoat looking more mature than most do… indeed it’s difficult to even imagine a child’s version of this.

I love the concept of raincoat that doesn’t drench the legs. 😀 That’s always been the biggest problem I’ve found with waterproof coats and the biggest reason why I tend not to wear them myself… I hate having the water channelling down to soak my knees and everything else below just to keep everything above dry. LOL That seems a poor trade off… so good to know there are items out there which solve this issue. 😀

Ha ha, I wasn’t actually sure if anyone would understand what I was referring to when I wrote that! Glad it was understood 🙂 I hate it when it drips right off onto my legs too, but the good thing about this one is that with the A Line shape it has to it, the bottom of the coat doesn’t really touch your legs so that’s a bonus too! It’s so pretty!

I love your skinny jeans and the burgundy raincoat is so adorable. A rubber coat is very useful when it’s raining. I really enjoyed this post and this wonderful outfit inspiration.

I don’t think I’ve owned a raincoat since childhood! Mainly because it’s not something you find over here (being Australia is overly dry). But I just love that burgundy hue, I’m definitely seeing a new side to this classic piece

Yeah! They actually make your eyes think they look smaller, which is so cool! I’ve always been conscious of my size 7/40 feet looking huge in certain shoes, which is why I like heels a lot as they look much smaller from the positioning 🙂

    Lorna! Hello 🤗
I’m about the purchase the Stutterheim Mosebacke. I’m torn between the peach (which I hope means PINK not peach! – would you know?) Or the navy blue.
I’m pretty bad at drinking coffee while I’m driving and droplets end up on my tops lol. Is it stain resistant? Should I go with safety and get navy (dark to hide my dribbling 🤭)?
Last, and most importantly, do you still love the Stutterheim raincoat? Has it held up? I read some reviews saying raindrops pooled into their pockets 🫣.
Thank you!! Great review, I’m so glad I found it 👏 👌 👍
    Cheers,
    Susy from Canada 🇨🇦
P.S. I’m also going to buy their matching rainboots if you say positive things still about the raincoat. It would be a very cute rainy outfit on such dull days.

Hi Susy! I do still have my burgundy rain coat! I actually haven’t worn it in such a long time, but it’s still held up. I never had any issues with rain in the pockets at all, I’m not sure how that happened, maybe they were in a waterfall, ha ha.

Regarding it being stain resistant, I have no idea actually. I don’t tend to spill anything on myself and I haven’t worn it while eating or anything, so I’ve never tried that out for a stain. Sorry! I know it does get colour transfer if you choose a lighter shade. I had a lighter raincoat (it was yellow from Petit Bateau) and I left it folded on my jeans, and indigo transferred to it. So I’d maybe opt for the navy! Where are you ordering from? 🙂

Thanks for your comments =) I read & reply every one =)
