The Herringbone Coat Outfit With Golden Goose
Happy Easter everyone! I know I wished you it all yesterday on Instagram (see here), but as I wasn’t publishing a blog post on the 1st, it’s just as relevant now since it’s bank holiday and all. Did you all have a nice weekend? It was a very quiet one for me since it poured with rain all weekend, so Adam and I spent a lot of it doing some cleaning, watching shows on the TV and doing chores, ha ha. I did have an Easter Egg that my mum bought me, but it’s going to take a week to eat that in bits and pieces as I don’t like to go overboard. It’s kind of shocking it’s April now though! Where did the time go?
Getting to this outfit, I’m sure you can tell by now that I am loving my Golden Goose Superstar Sneakers! I’m wearing them constantly and there’s more outfits to come as well, but for this one I decided to dress them up a bit more smart and opted for this New Look Herringbone Coat that I got from ASOS around about 5 months ago. I’m sure it was back in November but the weather had just been much too cold for a lightweight coat like this, so it’s only now that I’m wearing it! I think it’s turning into more of a Spring outer piece! I layered it over my Topshop Roll Neck Top, and chose my Citizens of Humanity Rocket Crop Skinny Jeans in Black to keep with the monochromatic theme. Finally, for my accessories, I went with my Saint Laurent Nano Sac de Jour in Grey. I was definitely very comfortable and casual, all while looking a bit more tailored at the same time.
We did originally shoot these photos when I was wearing my scarf as well, in fact we did the whole set, but then I thought about trying it without it just to see if it looked better, and it did, so we had to do the whole shoot again, ha ha. Trying to recreate all the poses and get everything exactly as I had done before was quite tricky though, as it always is. Anyway, please do let me know what you think of the entire outfit and the pieces individually! I always love reading your comments. Lorna xx.

I love this look, how nude the colors look. That’s nude yeah? And the shoes. I also like the fact that the sneakers can be exchanged with heels to give another chic look. xx

It’s grey 🙂 Nude is more like my skin tone, so these are grey neutrals. So pleased you like it 🙂
Love this long blazer styled with something so low-key, like sneakers!

Herringbone over sneakers. I wouldn’t have thought of it, but it definitely seems to work.
Oh, and that last photo, apparently taken in mid-step? Love it, mainly because I’ve never seen anything quite like it before. 🙂

Yep! It was the only one of the batch that looked good, I was walking while Adam was snapping the pics and I thought it looked quite cool! Something different 😀 Thank you, Charles!
Wow that herringbone coat really suits you. You look so sophisticated!

I love your coat! The grey color is a nice hue and I like that you paired it with a lighter mock neck top. I think it goes perfectly well tobetter and I agree that you didn’t need the scarf. We had a nice Easter weekend. My parents were in town which was nice because it meant a kid day free for the hubby and I. It was pretty funny to see our reaction to what will we do with ourselves now that we have this time! Lol Story of our lives!

So glad you had a nice Easter, Maureen! And thank you, happy you like the outfit!
This is such a lovely monochromatic outfit, the printed coat is such a nice touch with the neutrals! 🙂 I really want to add more fun coats like this to my winter wardrobe 🙂
Hope you are having a great week so far! It’s been a little rainy here but not too cold so I’m still enjoying wearing shorts, haha! Such a strange autumn! Glad you had a nice Easter – we had a busy one but fun one spending time with family.

Your coat makes me cast my mind back to the late 1980s… I’m not saying that this is at all an 80s look but back then there was a maths teacher at my secondary school who often wore a two piece suit (jacket & skirt) in that exact same pattern. 😀
Anyway, judging this outfit on its own merits, I think this is a terrific look for you. I like the greys and blacks mixing together and the overall shape of the outfit too. I like how the lines on the coat and the shape of the coat compliment each other. I especially like the grey top that you’re wearing. I don’t recall seeing very many outfits before where you’ve worn a high necked top like this – I think it suits you really nicely. 🙂
Author
Thank you, Steven 🙂 I actually have this top in the nude, beige colour, which you’ve seen a few times, so it’s a grey version of that. Let me know if you’d like links! So happy you like the outfit though, but that’s funny how it reminds you of your teacher, ha ha 😀
Yes, I’d like the links please. 🙂 I’ve totally forgotten it but I expect I’ll recognise it if I see it. 🙂

Oh wow, Lorna, my memory is shot to pieces! LOL It’s especially ironic that in the January outfit featuring the top I posted a comment saying that I hadn’t recognised the jeans that were featured before. 😀 Anyway, I’m just going to reiterate how much I like those particularly gorgeous jeans and especially with that top (that top that had slipped my mind…).
I think it might be a point that you have the neck of that nude sweater rolled down whereas you are wearing the grey one with the neck fully up that caused me not to recognise them as being the same design. 🙂 I think that alters the look considerably.
Ooops, Lorna I apologise for posting comments via my Facebook account while it is displaying a political emblem/slogan. I’m involved in campaigning in the local elections and I just didn’t think… I don’t want to bring politics to your site or any others that I visit. I’ll post my comments without using my Facebook until the elections are over. Sorry for that. 🙂
Author
It’s no problem 🙂 I don’t think anyone will be offended or even notice, or even talk about politics here anyway, so it’s all good!
Author
Ah yeah, that’s probably why then! I guess it’s funny how a little roll can make such a difference, ha ha!
I really like your coat, too bad that it’s not available anymore. That bag is adorable.

So posh and edgy, love it! You really can’t go wrong with plaid grey coat on spring, it’s such a beautiful and versatile classic. And you’re definitely rockign it dear. Love how you kept it with neutrals, from your tee, pants, to your bag, and sneakers!
