How To Style Borg Teddy Bear Coats
Happy Thursday everyone! I’m loving how crisp and cool the air is getting now, I’m just eagerly awaiting the leaves to change to their gorgeous golden hue! Since the time is flying by, it will also soon be time to think about my Halloween costume! Eek! Anyway, I wanted to keep this blog post dedicated to this outfit, as it’s one of my favourites this year, so I will get straight to it!
I was wearing my new Topshop Borg Teddy Coat which I bought in size UK 8. I wasn’t sure on it at first as I had only tried it on with my at home, lounge clothes and it fitted so oversized, but once I tried it on again with my actual outfit and got the proportions right, it worked amazingly. Given that this coat is so thick, fuzzy, and quite a lot of material, I knew that I had to keep everything else close to my body and quite light, so it didn’t overwhelm me.
I started with my PAIGE Margot Black Skinny Jeans (size 28) which have the perfect high rise to wear with cropped tops, like this new Topshop Fluffy Cropped Knit that I got in Cream (size UK 6). I wouldn’t usually go as far as to have my midriff on show, but as I’ve been working really hard on my health, doing my physiotherapy and eating well, I’ve grown a lot more confident with how I look and I am no longer bloated all the time either, so I’ve got so many more options for my clothing now! I thought a simple base like this, which shows the body shape and is so close fitting, was ideal for an oversized teddy bear of a coat, and it worked.
For my shoes, I wanted to add a bit more brown as there wasn’t anything to match the coat, so I chose my Sam Edelman Brown Ankle Boots. At first, these weren’t tall enough to accommodate the frayed hems of the jeans, so I was apprehensive, however I actually quite liked the different dimensions the hems gave to the overall feel of the outfit, so I left them sticking out. Some of you might not like that as it’s not clean cut, but it was something a little quirky to add to this outfit. I then finished it off with my trusty Celine Nano Luggage in Dune as it seems to be my most versatile bag.
I was a little nervous (I wont lie) about going out dressed like this, and I did spend most of the time with the coat done up, to make me feel more confident, but I’m proud of myself for working hard and actually achieving things in terms of my health and my body. I did take it off when Adam and I went for lunch in Wagamama, and funnily enough, there was a girl over the other side with the exact same coat, ha ha. It is a super popular one and I think it’s already sold out! Anyway, I actually really love this outfit and given that I had always wanted a teddy bear style coat since last year, but they never worked for my body, I now finally have one and I adore it so much! What do you think of the outfit? I’d love your opinions on everything as always, especially if you weren’t sure on how to style a borg teddy coat!
P.S. – Some exciting news! I just got shortlisted by Vuelio to win the Best UK Fashion Blog 2018 award! I was shortlisted last year too, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Thank you all for supporting! It truly means the world to me. Lorna xx.

Thank you 🙂
Hi Lorna,
A very nice outfit, although I saw this post during one of the warmest days (lately) here and the teddy bear coat somehow added a few extra degrees to the already untypical warmth outside 🙂
I like the colors of the outfit, and to be more precise, the way they match the background (the colors of the building). Also, honestly, this is a very professional looking photoset (not that I am an expert but I see it that way); the photographer (this would be your boyfriend, right?) definitely knows how to shoot and you – how to pose. Have you ever thought about a modeling career outside RoS?
Anyway, congratulations on your participation in the blog contest. Is it possible to vote for you?

Thank you! Sorry to add more heat to your unbearable temperature, ha ha 🙂
I’m always happy and excited when people notice the photos in a deeper sense. It’s one of my favourite locations there, so I like to choose it when I can, as it’s so pretty as a backdrop. I’ve done some modelling before, but it’s not a career that I would want. The hours are extremely long, it involves a lot of standing, as well as having to do everything the photographer or brand wants and it’s just not for me at all. I’m happy just keeping it to my own blog. Thank you though! It’s always good to see someone appreciating the photos for more than the outfit.
Unfortunately there’s no voting as it’s a judges decision, but I appreciate that!
You’re welcome, Lorna, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you, nonetheless, because I meant what I said/wrote, whatever. And…actually, how much worse can it get: I mean you are quitting… blogging…, right? (this is at least the only thing that many apparently read in the title of your next post 🙂 🙂 and…you Mark-ed me there so…ha ha. Ok, the last thing was my fault I guess. Oh, my! I’m still celebrating my own quitting, sorry. Kisses and Godspeed!

I like this ensemble very much. It’s very quirky to see summer type styles in winter type fabrics. It works so well. Good for you in getting your confidence back to wear the cropped top as it looks terrific. 🙂 Lovely cost too! Is the lining a shade of pink or is that just a trick of the lighting?
This year I have a Halloween costume to think of too as I have been invited to a costume Halloween party the Saturday after Halloween. I will be going as the Tom Baker version of Doctor Who. 🙂
Author
Yep! It is pink! A satin light pink, well spotted 🙂
And as if you would go as anything but something Dr. Who related, ha ha 😀
Well it saves me buying anything new… I still have to get my value from that huge Doctor Who scarf I paid £50 for but have only ever really worn once. 😉 LOL

Maybe you will have to attend 5 parties for Halloween then, ha ha 😀
In my previous comment cost should be coat!!! Autocorrect strikes again!
