A Neutral Monochrome Outfit Outside Dior In London
Who’s excited for Valentine’s Day? I can’t believe how quickly it’s come round actually, but I’d love to know how you’re spending it! I have a Valentine’s Day post coming up on the 14th, on the actual day, where I will explain what Adam and I are doing, and you can see my subtle, yet appropriately romantic outfit which I’ve saved up for the occasion. I was inspired to talk about Valentine’s Day though purely because of these photos, for some reason when I look at them, I get a romantic nostalgia that comes to mind. I don’t know if it’s because of the pretty Dior boutique in the background with the orange glow from the lights, or the little pink decorations in the window, or the fact that I look back on these photos with fond memories which automatically makes me feel romantic. I can’t put my finger on it, so I’m just going to say it’s a mix of all three of those things!
Now I mentioned in my previous post a few days ago (the Senreve Aria belt bag outfit) that I had worn these jeans to London, and this is what I wore for that trip for shopping and travel. So the pieces here are my Topshop Grey Long Belted Coat (which you saw here, but this Mango version is super similar) and I layered it over my favourite Zara White Fluffy Jumper, which I also live in. The jeans as I mentioned are the L’AGENCE Margot Skinny Jeans in Graphite, and as I said, I live in them. I literally wore them all around London for two days straight and they’re so comfortable and haven’t stretched out one bit, which is amazing because I hate it when that happens.
For my shoes, I needed comfort as well since walking was involved which is why I wore trainers/sneakers. Remember my Fila Disruptor II review that I did? These are the Fila featured in an outfit. Again, I live in these too and wear them constantly as they’re so easy to wear, but stylish at the same time. I then finished everything off with my Celine Micro Belt Bag in Clay, to blend all the neutrals together. I really like the combination of taupes, greys, whites and blacks together as there’s something settling about it on the eye, it feels soft and gentle, which is what I was going for, plus it works perfectly against the backdrop of New Bond Street which is so clean and beige too – I love it!
For those of you wondering why I chose Dior for the location instead of the other boutiques, it’s mostly because it’s beautiful and has such a stunning exterior, but also because the next bag on my wish list is the Saddle Bag, which I’m hoping I might be able to get this year (not looking likely though) as I’ve fallen head over heels for it after checking it out more in person. If you would like to see the rest of the photos from London though, you can check out my January Update blog post which features most of them there, as well as the London highlight on my Instagram (click here). Anyway, I’m going to keep this one shorter, so let me know in the comments below what you think of the outfit and location! Lorna xx.

We are doing anything special for V-day. We both have to work on that day. I might get my daughter a small gift for V-day but that’s about it.

A very stylish outfit, Lorna, my eyes were definitely fixed on the coat and the bag: I like the way they complete the outfit and match the background so nicely. I mean even the pavement colours resonate so well with the gray-white shades of your outfit. I also like these specific warm sepia colours of the photos, they give a fashion-like vibe to them; were they photoshopped (or in general edited) for that purpose or the effect is also due to the ambient light? Either way the photos look great.
My big question though is: what does neutral in terms of an outfit mean? Is it that it lacks vivid colours like bright red or yellow and thus the coat for example is not too much restricted to a specific matching colour of, let say, the jumper and can be combined with many other items regarding colour? Or the outfit is called neutral because it is suitable for a wide range of occasions? My initial guess was that neutral means something close to monochrome but considering the title of this post there must be „coloured“ outfits that are also neutral, right?
I’ve just seen how many times the word „colour“ is used in my comment, kind of funny considering again the title above 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hi Steven! I did Photoshop them that way yeah, I edit all of my photos and decided a couple weeks ago to go for a more uniform look with my photos, making them brighter and more sepia toned. I love how they look! You can see on my Instagram grid actually the change and how they all match 🙂
Neutral means neutral shades, no colour, so beige, light grey, taupes, creams etc. no bright colours, like you would see neutral tones in a living room decor. It is monochrome slightly, but the black throws that off. You can get colour monochrome, so if you wore all red pieces or all blue pieces, that’s monochrome, so this is just neutral in that there’s no colours. Hope that makes sense?
Yes, that actually helps me a lot, because I was always a bit confused by the everyday usage of words like monochrome and coloured, for neutral I had only a vague idea of what that might be. Maybe now is the right time for me to give up convincing Siri that there is no such thing as multidimensional greenish hahaI
Your Instagram grid is a state of the art thing, all frames speak the same language.. and I am absolutely mad about sepia and warm colours in general, but this is not the only reason why I like it though.

I’m glad it helped clarify! That’s not to say I wont be wearing colour, because I will, but I think pairing them with more neutral pieces is key to keeping the theme right. I really like warmer tones too in photos, I adore them!
Seriously love your look and this gorgeous bag!

Great photos. 🙂 That coat is so casually and effortlessly elegant, I think. Those jeans look terrific again though, perhaps, in a more understated way this time. In the previous post I felt they were very much the focus of that outfit whilst here they are complimenting the other items… and both approaches to wearing them work equally brilliantly. 🙂
I have to say that Valentine’s Day doesn’t even hit my radar. LOL But that’s due to being single for over 4 years. 😀 I’d probably need to notice it if I wasn’t. 😉

I LOVE DIOR! I really want to go and see the exhibit at the V&A, feels I already have after seeing so many posts on instagram actually.
