ALLSAINTS Dalby Leather Biker Jacket Review

Allsaints Dalby Leather Biker Jacket Review

I’m excited to be sharing a new leather jacket review with you! We all know how much I love them and when I saw this one, I fell in love instantly. I will admit that it was an impulse buy as Adam and I had just walked into Allsaints to kill some time and browse around, fully intending not to buy anything, but then I saw it… The rest of the story will unfold in the review below for you. This was when I first fell in love with the minimal and sleek design of the Dalby, and I have since purchased 3 more! I own the Dalby in Black, White, Burgundy, and Blush Pink. That’s how much I love it! It’s one of Allsaint’s most classic and popular designs, along with the Balfern (see my Allsaints Balfern leather jacket review), so read on and see why you need this jacket too!

The Fit & Design

The Dalby is much like a classic biker cut, it features simple lapels that snap down securely with poppers so they don’t flap about (a design detail I love), and a slightly cropped fit. It has no belt around the bottom, no over the top zips, just two simple zipped pockets on each side and a sleek, minimal design all over. The main zipper is asymmetrical, giving it a more flattering look when it’s zipped up, but as I never zip my jackets up (due to a larger chest, smaller waist/shoulder ratio), that’s not really something I can talk about. Overall though, this design is something that I’m really into. I’ve got numerous jackets which are quilted, have multiple zips etc, but I wanted something clean and elegant and this is it. It fits me perfectly too. When I put it on in the changing room and looked in the mirror (the Blush Pink), I literally went ‘wow, this fits amazing’ and knew I had to have it! I do generally like my leather jackets to fit a little longer in general, but this slight cropped version suits the design.

The Sizing

I vary between a UK 6 to 10 in leather jackets, especially when it comes to Allsaints as all their jackets are handmade and can often have sizing inconsistencies. I have a Papin in a UK 4 (which is now too small) and a Randall in a UK 4 (fits great), and my Balfern’s are size UK 6, but are now getting a little tight due to a small weight gain, I actually fit a Balfern in size 8 much easier. I decided to opt for a UK 8 in the Dalby here as it runs true to size. I know you’re supposed to get your leather jackets tight to begin with as they stretch out, but for this one, it has such an easy design and fit to it that it doesn’t matter in my opinion. I think this will look good over jumpers or worn slightly slouchy if it stretches out too much. As soon as I put the UK 8 on, I knew it was for me. It was incredibly comfortable, easy to move about in, and I didn’t feel restricted, so I went with it. I’ve come to realise it’s important to pick your comfortable size, as long as it fits well. As you can see from the photos, it’s the perfect size for my shoulders, arms, and waist. As all of the Allsaints leather jackets are handmade, they run differently, so I definitely recommend you checking out my Allsaints buying guide to make sure you get the right one!

The Colour & Leather

Now what’s funny is that I hadn’t paid any attention to the Blush Pink Dalby leather jacket online at all. In fact, I didn’t know it existed because I kept scrolling right past it. Online the colour didn’t look anything special and it seemed quite bland, but as soon as I saw it hanging up in the store, my eyes were drawn straight to it and they popped out of my head. Blush pink has always been a weakness of mine (just like burgundy) as I find it so complementary to my skin tone and hair, and it looked stunning hanging up on the rail. I instantly took it down and knew I had to try it on. I tried on a couple of others too (a cream one here and a coral red one here), but they didn’t come close to how simple and understated this one was. It’s a gorgeous dusty rose, light salmon, blush pink colour. What ever you want to call it, it’s a beautiful pastel with nude undertones to it. I didn’t know such a flattering colour like this existed in a leather jacket, and it’s made even better with the silver hardware which is sitting on a dark grey, charcoal fabric that makes it more modern so it stands out.

Now getting to the leather, it’s one of the most buttery soft leathers I have ever felt. It’s a spring summer jacket so you can imagine that it’s lightweight and thin, but it’s so supple. It genuinely feels like butter and is a dream to touch and wear. It’s lined with polyester though so you can’t feel it on your skin when you’re wearing it, but the sleeves and everything else to touch are amazing. You have to feel it to know what I’m talking about. It’s definitely high quality. This is why I’ve ended up with the white one, the burgundy, and the classic black!

The Price & Wearability

Not only after trying this Allsaints Dalby leather jacket on was I sold on the fit and colour, but when I saw the price, I was pleasantly surprised. Normally high quality leather jackets retail for over £400 and a lot are over £500, up to £1000, so the fact that this one comes with a £299 price tag was wonderful. I know that’s still considered expensive for a high street jacket, but for Allsaints – that’s cheap. When some of their knitwear retails for around £150 and their coats for £300, you would expect a leather jacket of this quality to be a lot more money. I think it’s very affordable for a leather jacket you’d wear often, especially around this time of year.

Due to the fact this is a blush pink, close to nude, it’s very neutral and I find it pairs well with everything. It suits grey, black, white, other nudes, light blue etc, so you can pretty much wear it with any jeans, over dresses, whatever you want. You might think Blush Pink isn’t versatile, but like the sales assistant said as well, it actually acts as a nude/neutral, so it’s much more wearable than you might think. I can’t wait for the rain to stop so I can wear it! All of the other shades I own are extremely versatile too!

Overall Opinion

I’m pretty sure that you can tell I love this Dalby leather jacket. I literally can’t fault it. I’m usually a procrastinator and someone who spends a long time thinking about something before I purchase it, but the fact that this was completely spur of the moment and I still don’t regret it at all, that says something. I would give it 9.9 out of 10! I would be slightly worried of the soft leather getting scratched, but that’s up to me to be careful. The fit, the design, the quality, the colour… it’s all amazing. I’m extremely happy that I bought it! I didn’t even want to wait for a sale just in case it sells out or I don’t find one that fitted me as perfect as this one did in the store. What do you think of it? If you’re looking for a new summer leather jacket, I can’t recommend it enough! I’d say buy it! I love my Boda Skins and other Allsaints leathers a lot, but as this one is completely different, it was a must! Let me know what you think of my Allsaints Dalby leather jacket review!

P.S. – If you do decide to buy, it would help keep Raindrops of Sapphire running and be a huge support to me if you can buy through my link as it’s affiliated. Thank you! Lorna xx.

That is such a pretty and delicate colour. I have to agree with your sales assistant’s verdict that it’s going to be very versatile for you. I could imagine it working especially well with really pale, light, blue denim. Really though, pretty much any colour is going to work with it… green maybe as in a leaves and blossom type colour combination?

Anyway, congratulations on your bargain. 😀

Trust you to bring in green, ha ha! But yeah I think green could potentially work. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be in a lot of my photos that are up coming though since it’s summer, so we will see! But definitely pale blue will work, I think shades of peach and lavender too! 🙂

Oh, you can always rely on me to bring in green… 😉 LOL I admire you optimism about summer… do you really think we’ll be getting one? 😉

I have a cobalt leather jacket but I’d love to add more colours to my wardrobe – definitely will be looking for colourful outerwear when winter arrives here 🙂

Hope you are having a great week so far! Been a wet week here, but still not too cold 🙂

It is a beautiful leather jacket indeed. I’m a big fan of leather jackets! I think that a blush pink one can be very versatile piece, and blush pink is such a feminine and pretty shade.
This jacket does seem like a great purchase, it looks amazing on you. I think you’ve picked the perfect size, it fits you like a glove.

I’m also very analytical when it comes to shopping, I don’t do impulse buys often but when I do buy something right away, it usually ends up being something I really love and wear often.

Hi Lorna! Have you been caught in the rain or snow with any of your All Saints jackets? Have they been damaged if accidentally gotten wet?

Hi Daisy, no I haven’t. I always check the weather and if there’s a chance of it raining heavy or anything, I wont wear them. I think the only one I wore was my Randall and it started to rain, but I had an umbrella. From my knowledge, the leather ones are ok in light rain (take an umbrella to be safe), but heavy rain can cause some issues on the leather.

Hi Lorna, I’m so glad I found your blog! I live in New Zealand and was looking for a reviews of the Dalby leather jacket in blush pink. Your review has helped me decide…I must have one! Looking at the All Saints sizing guide I’m right between UK 10 and 12. I’m normally a UK 10 but I’ve never ordered from All Saints so not sure about their sizing. Any advice about whether to size up or down? I definitely don’t want it looking too loose or boxy, but obviously it needs to fit me properly. Thanks in advance for your advice 🙂 Niki

Hi Niki! So glad you like my blog 🙂 What brands are you size 10 in over here? If it helps, I am between a UK 8 and 10, and I took this jacket in an 8 and it fits well, not too tight or too big as you can see. I often find Allsaints run on the bigger side, so I always go with my smaller size in their clothing. Plus, leather jackets stretch with wear, so perhaps try the UK 10? If you could order via my link, that would be hugely helpful to me! Thank you!

hey, I’d really like to get this, I’m a UK size 8 but tried the 8 on and it was quite tight on my upper arms (I have quite bulky upper arms). how have you found the fit? has it stretched much

Hi, yeah mine has stretched quite a lot, however I would recommend trying on numerous size 8’s. Their leather jackets are hand made, so they vary with fit. I’ve tried on numerous jackets of the same size before and they each fit different, so give that a go!

hey there! wondering if you know for sure the name of this jacket? i’ve been eyeing it on resale websites and seems everyone is calling it a different color, and it’s so old i can’t find any ‘real color names’ via all saints. could “vintage rose pink” perhaps be the same as what you’re featuring? i am seeing some that seem more on the beige side, and then some that seem a darker duskier rustier redishy rose. what i’m looking for is what i would call “blush” and just as you described it (that light pink that’s really a neutral). thanks for any help you can provide!

      Hey Andra,
I’m 1000% sure as I had the tag. Allsaints release a version of this colour every Spring in the Dalby and they change the name each year and change the colour slightly, so unless you get the one I have from that specific year, it wont be identical unfortunately. It will be similar, but slightly different.
      Thanks!
