My Loeffler Randall Isla Boots Review – Best Black Ankle Boots Ever!

The Best Black Ankle Boots Ever!

It’s very rare that I actually come across a comfortable pair of heels. I’m sure that a lot of you feel my pain when I say most high heels are painful, but I have actually found a pair that isn’t! These are the Loeffler Randall Isla Boots and I can safely say they are the most comfortable black ankle boots that I have tried!

I purchased these Loeffler Randall Isla boots about a year ago and I intended to do a review sooner, but things slipped away from me. As it stands though, doing a review a year later actually works out perfectly because it means I have wear tested them and worn them a lot, so I’m able to give a great review!

I originally saw the Loeffler Randall Isla boots on fashion blogger, Brooklyn Blonde, a couple of years ago and she had stated they were super comfortable, and a pair that she reaches for often. I really liked the design of these boots, so I bought a pair and hoped for the best! So lets get to this Loeffler Randall Isla boots review and see what they’re about!

About The Brand

Jessie Randall created Loeffler Randall in 2004 out of her garden apartment in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn with her husband, Brian, who is co-founder of the brand. Together they make distinctive products in small, considered batches with attention to every detail. 588 Broadway is the studio and office address, based in the heart of SoHo, NYC. In this beautiful, sun-lit space, they design items they want to wear themselves. Since the start, they have expanded from shoes, adding handbags, ready-to-wear & accessories to their collection. Creativity is at the heart of what they do, they are both always thinking about new designs that they can offer to their customers from their signature point of view. So now you know about about the brand itself and the female founder, check out my review below.

The Isla Design

The Isla bootie is a really unique design! It features a pointed toe with a very chunky heel, creating a gorgeous, fashionable, yet comfortable silhouette. There’s an exposed zipper on the sides, and a rubber heel patch at the leather sole for better wearing. The heel is around 3.5 inches in height, so they are high enough to really elongate the legs, but not reaching that painful 4 inches mark. It’s perfect!

The Leather

These Loeffler Randall Isla booties are made from a stretch Goat Kit suede on the upper, and a cow leather on the outsole. They are super stretchy, especially around the ankle and leg opening as the suede is extremely thin and supple. They have much more structure in the foot area, so they are a very sturdy boot, they’re just nice and soft and slim at the ankle. It’s a very nice suede! I have heard some people mention that the black dye stains their legs, but I have never had this happen.

The Comfort

Like I said earlier, these are the most comfortable heeled boots that I own! They boast a padded footbed with a gold stamped logo, so you are walking on some comfort, and the 3.5 inch chunky heel is so easy to walk on. Chunky heels in general make for easy wearing because there’s so much support under foot, but these seem to be extra comfortable! I can wear these for long hours for events and not feel any pain. They’re pretty easy to walk in as well if you’re used to a heel of 3 inches or more.

The Versatility

I would say that the Isla boot is extremely versatile! Especially in the black suede. I wear these with everything and I also picked them up in Cacao brown! So I now have the perfect combination of comfortable booties! They go with dresses and skirts as easily as they go with trousers and jeans. You really can’t get these wrong when it comes to an outfit as they’re so classic, understated, simple and easy on the eye, but elevated in the design – they couldn’t be more perfect!

The Sizing

I took size US 9 in these Isla booties and they fit me perfectly! I would say they work out to be an EU 39.5 actually, despite a US 9 being a 40 or a UK 7, they definitely fit more like a 39.5, as that’s my usual size. I did take a US 9.5 in the Cacao brown and those are a bit big on my feet, so I need a thicker sock. They didn’t have a smaller size and I loved them, so I went for it! In terms of sizing though, I wear a 39.5 in Gucci loafers, a 39.5 in YSL boots, and a 40 in Golden Goose. So I would say these run almost true to size to a tiny bit smaller. I hope that helps!

My Overall Opinion

As you can probably tell, my rating of the Loeffler Randall Isla Boots in this review is pretty much a 10/10. They are comfortable, stylish, soft, easy to wear, versatile… the list goes on! I have worn these countless times, I honestly couldn’t tell you how many, and they are still in like new condition. I don’t have anything negative to say about these booties at all! I think they’re my favourite and the most comfortable for a 3.5 inch heel! As they’re suede, please don’t get them wet! But if you have any questions, please let me know! I’ve worn these a lot on my Instagram too! If you want to check that out here.

these boots look so classy and versatile! i’ve been struggling to find a pair of boots that will look (and feel good) for both london and going around the local towns while we’re back in the essex area. i love the look of chelsea boots but i am paranoid that they hit me at a wrong spot on my legs and make it look like i have cankles haha. i totally forgot about loefller randall as i have been circling around rag & bone and aquatalia as possibilities. i like that this style can work with both casual and dressy looks, as the heel helps elevate a casual look and also looks very much part of an overall dressier look.

have you put suede protector on yours or are you just mindful of when and where you wear yours?

I haven’t put any suede protector on them as I always feel like I might do it wrong, or mess something up, along with also being lazy! Ha ha. I really should though! I’m usually just very cautious of water when I wear them. They are great boots! If you are walking around in London for hours though, I probably would recommend a flat heel for your joints and feet.

Chelsea boots are great! It just depends what you wear them with, the colour, and the shaft height, as some can be higher or lower than others! I’d also recommend a slim version, rather than a rounded bulky version if you worry about cankles!
