4 holiday locations to get you excited about summer

If you’re looking for somewhere to go this summer, you might be considering a trip to somewhere in Europe. Whether you’re from the America’s, or living in the UK like me, you can travel to a range of different countries and discover their unique history, cuisine and traditions. Even visiting a few at once as they are close by. Only a short flight away, Europe is the place to be if you’re looking for a summer holiday that doesn’t break the bank. I’ve rounded up 4 countries that I think are hot spots right now, so here are the best places to visit on your next tour in Europe.

Spain

Spain offers incredible food and weather. Whether digging into some patatas bravas in the middle of Seville is your idea of fun or you’re looking for a coastal retreat where you can sit back and relax, Spain has it all.

If you’re looking for a beach escape, the southern coast exudes Spanish charm and remains warm from May until late September. This means you can visit out of season without having to pay summer holiday prices.

You can also enjoy the lively cities all year round. Barcelona is a firm favourite thanks to its rich culture, stunning architecture and mesmerising landmarks like the Sagrada Familia. You should also visit Madrid – its vibrant nightlife, culture and culinary scene make it a dynamic and exciting place to visit.

Iceland

Iceland has some of the world’s most impressive, dramatic landscapes with cascading waterfalls, towering glaciers and bubbling geysers. With a trip to Iceland, you can soak in the healing waters of the Blue Lagoon or explore the rugged beauty of Vatnajökull National Park.

While Iceland is often seen as a winter escape, the land of the midnight sun is also worth a visit in the summertime. With endless days, you have plenty of time to explore. From volcanic trails to glacier tours, you won’t be bored when you visit Iceland. If that’s not your thing, simply soak up the warm, hospitable atmosphere and learn all about the rich Viking history as you discover the heart of the Arctic.

Iceland is somewhere that I have always wanted to go, especially to see the Northern Lights and to enjoy the long days of daylight, as well as the scenery. It’s definitely on my list.

Croatia

If you’re looking for somewhere affordable during the current cost-of-living crisis, Croatia should be on your list. As well as the iconic city of Dubrovnik with terracotta roofing and ancient city walls, the Adriatic coastline has so much to offer. Dotted with charming islands and hidden coves, Croatia is the ultimate place to relax and unwind surrounded by crystal-clear waters.

I was in Croatia for 16 days back in August 2021 and it was some of the best moments of my life. I travelled there solo and it was incredible. I stayed in Cavtat, which is right by Dubrovnik. The scenery, the water, the food, the people. Everything was incredible and I cannot wait to go back.

If you’re looking for something a bit more lively though, Croatia has that too! With buzzing festivals, delicious cuisine and warm hospitality, Croatia is a captivating escape if you’re seeking an unforgettable experience. I just personally prefer things to be a bit more chilled out.

Portugal

Portugal is one of the most overlooked holiday destinations – but it shouldn’t be! There’s something for everyone in this corner of Europe.

If you’re looking for a city break, you can wander through the cobbled streets of Lisbon or Porto, where pastel-coloured buildings line the winding alleys, stopping only for a pastel de nata. If you’re looking for a sun-soaked week away, head to the Algarve where golden beaches meet dramatic cliffs and surfing hotspots. I feel like everyone likes to pick Santorini in Greece over Portugal, but it’s definitely a great spot!

Final thoughts…

There are so many destinations in Europe to explore this summer. From the vibrant cities of Spain to the dramatic landscapes of Iceland, the coastal beauty of Croatia and the hidden gems of Portugal, there’s something for every traveller. Whether you seek culinary delights, historical marvels or sun-soaked relaxation, Europe is unbeatable. Where will you go on your next adventure?

You completely forgot the official Lorna Burford UK experience tour! What better way to spend a vacation than visiting the beautiful locales used by everyone’s favorite blogger, Lorna? This once in a lifetime adventure includes such exciting places as: this street over here!; that street over there!; that fence over there!; that stone wall over there! The tour concludes with a visit to Lorna’s own personal closet. Of course, that’s the *official* tour; the unofficial tour ends with a trip to the local police station after being arrested for breaking into your home to look at your closest.

That’s so bizzare LOL! As long as you visit that street over there, it’s a great tour.
