From Neutral to Bold: How to Elevate your Outfit with Leopard Print

How to Elevate your Mood & Outfit with Leopard Print

As most of you know, I am someone that loves neutral tones! I would say that 75% of my wardrobe and bag collection is within the neutral colour palette, so I’m no stranger to a beige, brown and white ensemble. With that being said, wearing neutrals too often can become a bit boring and a bit uninspiring, so adding a pop of something bold into the look can really elevate it and make a difference. This cowgirl inspired outfit here is proof of that!

I’ve collaborated with Very.co.uk for around the 8th time as I love this store! This time I’m styling neutrals with a pop of colour and showing you how to add some fun and dimension to something otherwise plain. It’s all about the prints, the textures, and the accessories. You can dress anything up or down, from going out to casual, and you can do the same for your mood. Wearing clothing as an expression of your mood is one of my favourite things to do.

I started out with this cowgirl inspired dress from V by Very as the base of the outfit. I think it’s so much fun with the longer balloon sleeves, cinched in waist, and floaty skirt. The texture is perfect for transitioning into autumn as well, which is why I have showcased it in three different ways.

I’ve kept the base pieces the same, styling it with these super cute V by Very western boots with studs (how cool are these? I’m obsessed with them!) and a Mango faux suede belt around my waist. So, scroll down to find out the various ways in which I’m styling this neutral dress and boots.

Here is a mood board that I put together so that you can see all of the pieces in one place, showcasing how the outfit will look. Bringing this mood board to life in these photos that we shot really shows the versatility of all of the pieces, as you can see below. First up, this beautiful leopard print scarf below.

As you can see here, one way to really add a pop of bold colour and vibrancy to a neutral outfit is by adding in a printed scarf. This leopard scarf is by Mint Velvet and I love that one side is more muted than the other. Since this scarf is lightweight, it doesn’t add any extra layers or warmth to the outfit, making it perfect for wearing in the summer months without making you too hot.

You can also tuck some of the long strands of the scarf into the belt to make it look more like a shawl, but it really changes the entire dynamic of the outfit in my opinion. Throw on some sunglasses like these Ray-Ban Erika’s, and you’re good to go! You’ve got a bold look, ready to take on the day.

This next way is my favourite! Incorporating a really fun coat, with neutral elements. One thing that I love about this beige trench coat from Sosandar is the bold leopard print lining. Anytime the wind blows, you get to see this striking leopard pattern that really takes the outfit from neutral to cool in an instant. I’m not someone that is overly daring when it comes to my patterns (I used to be though), so this is the perfect way to embellish.

I think trench coats are beautiful and they really add an element of sophistication and class to your outfit, so adding in a fun and cheeky lining like this is such a cute way to spice things up. Of course, if you do the trench coat up, you wont see the lining, but if you want to be playful, wear the coat open or over your shoulders. This is one way to really express your personality and mood on the day!

If you’re really feeling like making a statement, pop the collar and expose the leopard print underside! That’s one of the aspects to this trench coat that I fell in love with – its versatility in blending in or standing out. It makes it one very universal coat to have in your wardrobe, especially since it goes with everything because it’s beige.

I wanted to share a close up of the boots too, so that you can see how cool and daring they are, but in a subtle way. I love the little studs that are embellishing them in a western pattern. These are perfect for any season and I can’t wait to wear them many more times!

I also finished this cute cowgirl inspired look off with my Celine Tilly Bag in Safari as I thought it was the perfect complementary piece for this neutral look. What do you think of this outfit? Is it a good way to add some boldness and colour to a neutral look?

*This post is a carefully selected collaboration between myself and Very.co.uk. I chose all of these pieces myself and the opinions are all my own.

Beautiful dress and styling. Two colours is so simple but so effective. Looking very summer ready. The trench coat is great. I love that you can keep a bit of your personal style with you when you need to look smart and professional on the outside too. Eight collaborations! Is that a record for you?

That’s cool. I can see why you keep working with them when the results look like this. Long may it continue for you. 🙂

And since when do angels wear cowgirl boots? I really like this white and light outfit. Maybe neutral for some, but not the way you wear it for me. I love these photos Lorna, always full of your charm that I adore just as much. And aren’t those boots attractive… just like you, when you wear them? This dress really shows off your physique, which is always very pleasant to look at.
