Skin Theory Antioxidant Soothing Serum & Matte Day Cream Review

Skin Theory Antioxidant Soothing Serum & Matte Day Cream Review

It’s been a while since I did any kind of skin care review, and that’s for good reason. I’ve been testing out different products and actives for well over a year, as my acne had flared up really bad, so trying to get that under control was one of my main focuses. I’m really settled now with an amazing skincare regimen that I have, and I absolutely love it! I will be talking about other products I use in terms of cleanser and actives in a different blog post (they’re from Sunday Riley), but I wanted to focus this blog post on these two specific items as they’re a different brand.

I recently bought a set of 6 Skin Theory peels at Therapie Clinic in Bath. I chose the Glycolic Peels as I want to be able to fade my acne hyper-pigmentation. They use a Glycolic acid strength of 40%, so it’s something that has to be done by trained professionals at the salon, as you can damage your skin trying to do this at home. I’ve had two treatment peels so far and I have to say that I have noticed a huge difference already! (They don’t hurt me either, it’s a very mild tingling or slight stinging, but it’s nothing really.)

Skin Theory seems to be an amazing brand, and they offer so many different peels that you can have, for various skin types, so you should definitely check them out. I chose Therapie Clinic as I’m having Laser Hair Removal there and love the place, so I was very comfortable buying some skin peels to have them done there too. Why am I mentioning this though? Well, having the peels was how I found out about the Skin Theory Antioxidant Serum and the Antioxidant Day Cream. They use these to soothe my skin after the Glycolic acid. I was then given some samples to use for a few days after my peel, and let me tell you – they are amazing! Seriously!

Skin Theory Antioxidant Soothing Serum

This is a soothing, balancing and repairing serum to aid, heal, soothe and re-balance the inflamed skin. This serum also hydrates and fights signs of aging, which is a bonus. The result of this is nourished, calm, hydrated skin that really does feel smooth and not aggravated at all.

I use it by cleansing my skin, then applying it in the morning and evening as the second step, then carrying on with the rest of my routine. This serum can be used post treatment to soothe the skin as well, and it does really help with that.

It contains Copper Peptides, Beet Root Extract, Ergothioneine and Sodium Hyaluronate as the main ingredients which help in the anti-inflammatory and healing process. Ergothioneine is a free radical scavenger and there’s also lactic acid that will help soften the skin.

I can safely say that it’s been amazing for my skin. It doesn’t cause me to have any breakouts, it doesn’t block my pores, and it’s really gentle – calming any redness that I get. It has a wonderful citrus orange smell to it, and doesn’t feel sticky once it’s applied as it absorbs into your skin really well.

Skin Theory Antioxidant Matte Day Cream | SPF 30

This is an antioxidant-rich, matte day cream that provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection while controlling oil and shine throughout the day. The results are calm, hydrated skin, with a beautiful glowing finish. It contains a Physical UV Filter and an Organic UV Filter, as well as Niacinamide (which is amazing for skin repair and redness fading), Resveratrol, Vitamin E and Vitamin B3 for acne prone skin!

This day cream also reduces signs of aging, increases skin’s firmness and fights free radicals, which is amazing! And again, it has a lovely citrus smell to it. It hasn’t caused me to have any breakouts at all and that’s rare with SPF moisturisers as I usually do get clogged pores from them, so this is incredible!

I apply it every morning after my Skin Theory serum. It is recommended that you re-apply every 2 hours if exposed to the sun, but I try to avoid the sun as much as possible. You don’t need much of it as a little goes a long way with this cream! My face is glowing though and I’ve been a lot more confident going out without makeup now!

As you can tell, I cannot get enough of these two products! The Skin Theory Antioxidant Soothing Serum and Matte Day Cream are miracle products! I actually reached out to Therapie to ask about reviewing these items as I was so impressed with the samples after my Glycolic peels and wanted to try out the full size versions and let you all know how good they are! I’ve been using them for 4-5 weeks now.

Also, as an extra little tip, if you have acne prone skin, do not use Vitamin C! I was using a Vitamin C product for ages because of how good it’s supposed to be for fading scars and red marks, but it would break me out really badly! I remember breaking out badly from an old Vitamin C cleanser I had from Medik8, and it was the worst breakout of my life all along my jaw, but I never put the two together. So avoid Vitamin C at all costs if you have acne prone skin! I’m currently thinking of trying their salicylic acid or glycolic acid cleansers!

Anyway, please let me know what you think of these two Skin Theory products and tell me if you’ve ever tried them, or if you’ve ever had any Glycolic Peels too! I’d love to know your thoughts!

isn’t it such a relief to find products that work? acne is such a struggle no matter what age, but i do find as i get older i get more frustrated when i get a spot. i do at-home salicylic and glycolic peels from bravura london. i need to be better about establishing a routine for them, especially now that it’s summertime and my skin is going through a lot more between the weather, air con, sunscreen, etc.

Oh! Yes! It is such a relief to find products that work. I then become obsessed with them and get scared if I ever run out, ha ha. Peels at home are a good idea, I might swap to those once my course at the clinic runs out. I know they told me to be careful with them in the summer as the sun can cause damage when using AHA’s and BHA’s!
