Coach Tabby 20 Bag Review – Warm Brown Suede

Coach Tabby 20 Bag Review – Warm Brown Suede

It’s been quite a while since I did a bag review for you here on Ford la Femme. We all know the reasons why I’ve shied away from content, but I’m definitely trying my hardest to create new content for you, regularly now. Despite Google’s AI answers killing everyone’s traffic! Did you know that most of our Google traffic views are down by more than 50% since the AI answers have been rolling out? It means people don’t need to click through to websites anymore, as Google gives you the answer immediately – it sucks!

Anyway, I’m here with a brand-new bag review —it’s the Coach Tabby 20 in Warm Brown Suede! This is my second Tabby 20, as I have one in leather with flower patterns on it (see it here). I adore the Tabby 20 – it’s absolutely perfect for a smaller bag that’s more affordable than the usual luxury designers that I review. So, let’s get to this bag review!

The Coach Tabby 20 Design

The Coach Tabby with the quilted design is my favourite from Coach. I fell in love with it a couple of years ago, and I still think it’s their best-selling bag. It comes in three sizes: 20, 26, and 33, which no longer exists. The 20 is the smaller full-size design, which is what I have here.

As you can see, it’s a rectangular shape with a flap at the front, which showcases the C for the Coach logo. Underneath this front flap is an inside magnetic snap pocket, which is suitable for your cards and small items that need some security. It also features an outside slip pocket on the back of the bag. There are 2 internal compartments as well, making the organisation easier.

This bag has two strap holes at the top, allowing you to wear the chain as a full-length style or doubled up as a shoulder bag. The brass chain is interwoven with leather so that it matches the overall design of the bag. I think it’s based on one of their iconic 1970s styles!

The Suede & Hardware

This is the first Tabby that I have seen in suede, as usually I have the leather options. I will say that my impression of the suede is actually fairly decent for Coach. It’s not of the same caliber as you find on Saint Laurent or Celine, etc, but it’s very good. It has a nice texture, it changes in the light as you can smooth it multiple ways, plus, it seems pretty durable.

I have purchased four of these bags, and each one was different. I was picking the best one out of all of them, in terms of everything like design (some are crooked) and quality of the suede. This was the best one! It looks pretty rich and luxurious in my opinion for the price.

The lining of the flap is leather, so it’s only suede on the outside. This leather seems like a good quality, though! Then the lining inside the compartments of the bag is fabric, as you can see in the photos.

The hardware is a golden brass tone, so it’s not too shiny or too yellow. It definitely has more of a burnished brass appearance, which I think adds a little more style to the bag. It would probably look a bit garish if it were bright and shiny. The duller colour tones it down. The chain is very lightweight, so it’s not of a heavy caliber like designer bags, but I actually prefer lighter ones as they don’t hurt my shoulder.

The Tabby 20 Sizing

As I mentioned, this is the Tabby 20, and that means it’s 20cm across in width. That’s equal to a length of 7.75 inches. It also has a height of 4.25 inches and a width of 2.75 inches. The chain strap has a drop of 21.5 inches as well. It comes across as pretty small in the measurements, but you’d be surprised how much you can actually fit inside this bag! I would love for them to make a Tabby 23, which is right in the middle, as I think that would be a perfect size!

Wearing It As A Shoulder Bag

This is how it looks when it’s worn as a shoulder bag, so you can see where it falls. I am 5ft 4 for reference, and currently 164 pounds. This is heavier than my usual weight if you’re using that as a comparison. It sits at a good place on my frame when worn like this.

Wearing It Cross-Body

My previous Coach Tabby 20 in the floral leather sits around the same length as this when worn cross-body, so there seems to be consistency throughout, which is good. I actually love this length! It might be a little bit too short for some of the girls who are above 5ft 8, but for my shorter height, it’s perfect!

My Thoughts On The Quality Of The Tabby 20

I would say for $395 + tax in the USA, it’s a very good quality bag. The price is much higher in the UK (it’s £450), which is actually equal to $591, so there’s a drastic price difference there. As I mentioned, I did have to choose between 4 of them, and that’s very common with Coach. They are all different and often come with some kind of flaw.

Two of them had crooked flaps, which I don’t like. One of them had some flaws in the suede and looked kind of flat. This was the best one out of them all. I definitely recommend that if you order from Coach, order a few and choose the best one, as it’s definitely needed. Even the one they had on display in the store was crooked, ha ha.

When you do get a good one, though, it’s worth it! I cannot wait to wear this more and show it off in my autumn/winter outfits. It’s going to go with so much! I think it’s a really good quality bag for this price point, and I will stand by that.

My Overall Opinion On The Coach Tabby 20

I adore it! I love the cute size of the Tabby 20, as the Tabby 26 just felt a little bit too much or too big for me, as I’m shorter, but it looks amazing on taller girls! I adore this brown suede colour with the brass gold hardware. I love how easy it is to use with compartments inside! Compartments are a must for me now as they make life so much easier than just dumping everything into one big space! It’s fairly lightweight, it’s so easy to carry either on the shoulder (it doesn’t slip off) or as a cross-body. I can’t really fault it! It’s the perfect colourway for this season! I 100% recommend the Coach Tabby 20 bag in this review! What’s your opinion of it?

I agree that does suck about Google! Sorry to hear that. A.I. is having a negative effect on so many things and I hope the bubble bursts soon. I thought Google made their money from website ads, surely this looses them money if people don’t visit the websites? I’m confused. Great review. 🙂 Shame about the inconsistencies across each item. It’s a cute bag and looks lovely on you.

Super glad you liked it 🙂 And I know, they must be making their money in other ways now, like the shopping suggestions that show up everywhere at the top of Google.

Oh yeah, I’ve see those. I always scroll past them. They are probably selling their A.I. services too so we’ll see it in more places. I miss the old “Don’t be evil” Google.

Lol, so do I! I don’t like how the times change that much as the authenticy in creativity is gone.

So true! I hope people realise what is happening and act. There is no substitute for a human writing as they bring their real experiences, feelings and passion to a piece. This is what makes reading your blog a joy.
