A Unique Spin On The Power Suit
Happy Thursday! I have a small double photoshoot for you to see today! I’m going to get straight to it as well, so I was wearing a modern take on a power suit that I thought was really cool. I combined the Lovers + Friends Orion Crop Top with the matching Lovers + Friends Miro Pants (gifted by Revolve) and I like how the combination looks! The suit pattern itself is a check in pale pink and black on a grey background, making it pretty unique and interesting. The trousers, as you can see, come with a waist tie which I showcased with and without, as I wasn’t sure which I liked best. The trousers are a bit long for me as I’m not very tall, so they could be a bit shorter, but overall, it’s pretty cool. The bandeau style crop top zips up at the back and has silicone areas to keep it up. For everyone wondering, I went for a size medium in the top and a small in the trousers and it seems to fit quite well.
For the rest of the look, I layered my Reiss White Blazer (similar here) over my shoulders to pull it together and give it a bit more modesty. I got this blazer a couple of years ago and it has an oversize fit, which I think paired nicely with these pieces. Then getting to my accessories, I chose my Valentino Lock Bag in Ivory and my Jimmy Choo Romy 85 Shoes (similar here). I originally was thinking about doing grey shoes, but it was too much overall and as much as I don’t usually like brown and grey together, it sort of worked regarding this look. I did originally try my Christian Louboutin Pigalle in Black, but it was too intense. Then for those of you who noticed the necklace, it’s by Design Letters and I mentioned it briefly in my other outfit post, but this time I chose to wear my silver L charm with a silver star and white marble disk. It’s so versatile!
Now for Adam’s look, we hadn’t originally planned to wear this together, but we were dressed ready for our shoots on the day, and I thought some photos of us together side by side would be nice as we were both wearing suits. His is of course a tweed set by House of Cavani as he was channeling a Peaky Blinders ensemble, as I’m sure you can tell, but I liked how the two looks paired well in a contrasting way. My suit is very modern and daring, with a much more unique take, while Adam’s is extremely traditional, classic and vintage inspired, which you can really see clearly next to each other, so I had a lot of fun with that. Thanks to my mum for taking the shots too! Let me know what you think of both mine and Adam’s looks here! Lorna xx.
P.S. – I have a small announcement/blog post coming on Sunday that I think you will like!

That’s a gorgeous outfit! I love the colours of the pattern because from affar ir looks pretty grey and basic but up close looks way more interesting. And I prefer the trousers with the waist tie, it doesn’t look so plain with it.

Thank you! I was intrigued to know which people liked, with the tie or without!
I love when you guys do couple looks, they are always adorable. I really like your suit, so feminine and sexy. I also like the white blazer you choose to go along with it. Adam looks very elegant in his suit. You both look great. Lovely photos as well.

First of all, Happy International Women’s Day, Lorna!
Before I comment the outfits, I’d like to say that you and Adam make such a lovely couple, always love it when you pose together, especially when holding your hands with that natural look in your eyes. Wish you all the best to both of you.
About the outfits: I very much like the design and the colours of yours, very… neat and posh. A very intelligent styling! I like the way the top „hangs“ on you above the trousers like not being attached. The waist tie definitely adds extra points: it kinda nicely disturbs the conventional formal look of the outfit by adding a subtle playful vibe to it, which I think expands its versatility.
Adam’s outfit nicely complements yours and I like its classical look. What I like most about both outfits is that they look very „individual“ side by side and thus do not „interfere“ with each other. The background fits in very well as well. Congratulations to your mum for these professional photos.
Any hints regarding what’s coming up on Sunday 🙂 ? Patience is not one of my virtues ha ha.

Thank you so much! I love the differences between our suits as well and how unique they look against each other, like I wrote in the text, yet they are the same category, it’s weird how that can happen! It looks like the waist tie gets most votes! 😀
We did have to take about 50 photos to get 4 usable ones, bless her, but I’m grateful she did it! And sorry, no hints, although if you go to my Instagram and watch my story from today, you will see a hint!
This outfit is absolute perfection on you Lorna – I love the shoot location and concept too; very stylish! Have a fabulous weekend darling!

You both look fabulous. 🙂 It’s great to see all those greys in your outfit. I’m not sure if I agree with you that the trousers are a bit long – it’s not a thought that I’d have had and, even with you mentioning it, I still can’t really see the issue. Looks fine to me. 🙂
I love the contrast that going on with Adam’s retro look and your slightly futuristic look. It’s like you each stepped out of different time zones yet still very much belong together. 🙂 I’ll bet you both got a lot of admiring looks from passers by that day. 🙂

Thank you, Steven 🙂 I guess I wasn’t too clear in that by too long, I meant for the cut/design of them, they’re supposed to hit about 2 inches above the ankle (like on the model) as they’re a cropped fit, but on me, they hit just below my ankles so the leg opening is a little more flappier than I would have liked. Does that make sense? But I’m happy you like the contrasting looks of us both, it does remind me of two different time zones! 🙂
Yes, that makes sense. 🙂 Though I stand by my previous comment that it still looks fine. 🙂
