A Burgundy Velvet Dress For Christmas And New Year’s Eve

I’m super excited to be sharing another collaboration with AW Bridal! As you know, I’ve worked with this brand quite a few times before, and they always have amazing dresses – I don’t think there’s one on their website that I don’t like! As you can tell by the name, AW Bridal, they mostly make dresses for bridesmaids and wedding parties, so this is technically one of their velvet bridesmaids’ dresses, but of course, you can wear it for anything!

This look for me here is all about embracing the Holiday season and dressing up this stunning AW Bridal Miranda Dress in Burgundy Velvet for the festive Christmas parties and New Year’s Eve celebrations! Velvet is the most perfect fabric for this time of year, especially when it’s in red or burgundy – it doesn’t get more Christmasy than that, does it?!

The silhouette of this dress is a Mermaid style, but it features a sweetheart neckline, with a corset-style body and built-in bra. There is metal boning in the corset-style front of the dress to keep its shape, but it’s not restrictive or uncomfortable, as the back doesn’t have any. It zips up via a zipper at the back, instead of lacing up, so that’s something I love about this dress, too!

Getting to the actual shoulder design of this velvet dress, it features spaghetti straps to keep it up, with off-the-shoulder, thick, velvet straps that cascade over your upper arms. I think this is a really elegant and feminine touch, making the dress even more special. It’s also a floor-length style dress, featuring a split to show off a little sexiness, exposing your leg, while maintaining some elegance with ruching around the hips.

For this look, to make it evening appropriate, I styled my AW Bridal Miranda Burgundy Velvet Dress with my Christian Louboutin Pigalle Heels in Black, to keep the look sleek and classic. I then added in a little glam with my Cult Gaia Mini Hera Bag, my Astrid & Miyu Double Hoop Earrings, my Oliver Bonas Cowboy Boot Necklace, and my BaubleBar Tennis Bracelet. I thought the silver jewellery would be a really nice touch against the crystals of the bag.

To keep myself warm, I layered my New Look Faux Fur Coat over my shoulders to keep the chill away. Faux fur is iconic around Christmas and New Year! They elevate and dress up any outfit that you’re wearing. Faux fur jackets are absolutely perfect when worn over statement dresses and evening gowns, just make sure you choose the right colour!
