Styling 3 Summer Dresses For Autumn With Very.co.uk

Styling 3 Summer Dresses For Autumn With Very.co.uk

I am super excited to share my sixth collaboration with Very.co.uk here on my fashion blog, Ford la Femme!  I have also collaborated with them on my other website, The Jeans Blog, a couple of times for denim styling, so it brings me great joy to work with them again and create something really stylish and fun! You can see a few of my past collaborations with Very.co.uk here, here, here and here.

The focus of this particular blog post is transitioning summer dresses into autumn with the help of the right styling and pieces. This is one of the best ways you can be more sustainable and not have too many items in your closet, meaning you can re-use pieces every season, and I love that! Overconsumption and a whole new wardrobe every single season is just not trendy anymore, but utilising what you have? That’s what’s hot right now, and I hope that continues for a very long time.

There are three different looks here that I put together, showcasing three entirely different women’s dresses, and how you can style them for the cooler months, just by adding a few additional pieces. Of course, all of these dresses can be worn alone as they are for summer, enhanced with lots of jewellery, but as the hot weather is now a thing of the past, adding on the layers changes the entire vibe and makes it season-appropriate. I will explain each outfit for you under each image, starting with the first look above.

This was a gorgeous statement dress from Sosandar – it’s their ivory floral satin midaxi shirt dress. Midaxi is a great length as it combines midi and maxi together, hitting at a great length on my 5ft 4 frame. This dress can be worn with a sun hat and chic sandals in the summertime, but as you can see, I layered The Very Collection faux wool single-breasted coat in brown over my shoulders, to really pull it together. Then to finish it off, I chose my DUO Boots chocolate brown suede boots, and my Celine nano luggage in glazed chestnut. All of these dark browns together just scream autumn! This is one of those perfect dresses that is totally seasonal, and I love that about it – a completely versatile, year-round piece.

The second look is this really cute The Very Collection crew neck fit and flare mini dress in burgundy. It’s a lightweight, knitted fabric, so it would look super chic with some sunglasses and heeled sandals in the summertime, and equally as stunning with this The Very Collection faux shearling aviator jacket in brown layered over the top. The rich shade of burgundy in this dress is absolutely gorgeous.

Again, I wore my DUO Boots chocolate brown suede boots, and finished it off with my Celine teen nino in smoked brown. This aviator jacket really adds such a comfy, cosy vibe to the dress. It’s one of those jackets that you see and immediately get autumnal vibes from. The boots are the same colour as the faux fur on the jacket, too, so it’s a perfect pairing. I love how girly, cute and fun it is!

Now, for the third and final look, I was wearing one of the chicest pieces! This Mango satin maxi dress in dark brown is an absolute show stopper! It has a strap-style top and a slim silhouette all the way down, so it’s extremely flattering, silky, and easy to wear. This is one of those dresses that you can just throw on in the summer, as it’s so lightweight, with some flat sandals, a basket bag, some sunglasses and a statement necklace. However, because it’s the most richest shade of chocolate, it’s perfect for autumn too!

With a couple of adjustments, like this River Island V-neck jumper in beige thrown over the top (secured with a waist belt underneath), it has a whole new vibe! It’s like a knitwear and skirt combination. I wanted to keep this outfit a little more casual, and wearing women’s trainers is the ideal way to do that. I chose the Puma Palermo leather trainers in greyish beige to tone down this ensemble, then finished it off with my Mulberry Lily bag in gold. This is one of those daytime looks that you can wear anywhere, as it’s comfy and casual, with a little elevation, which is really trendy at the moment.

So these are my three autumn dress stylings in collaboration with Very.co.uk. This is one part of my job that I absolutely love. Putting together outfits from scratch, with challenges in mind, and pushing my boundaries a little with personal style. I’ve actually taken to wearing trainers almost all the time now as they’re so comfy and there’s always so many amazing colours around. They literally go with so many dresses and jeans, as well as skirts – you can’t go wrong! I highly recommend any colour of the Puma Palermo too – they’re comfy enough for thousands of steps when being a tourist, but stylish enough to look cool with any outfit!

You can see the rest of my photos below for each outfit, but let me know what you think of the styling here and how you’re wearing your summer dresses into autumn as well!

Three fabulous looks for autumn! All the pieces in the first outfit complement each other perfectly, like they were made for each other. The burgundy of the second is a gorgeous colour, looks great on you. Trainers look fabulous with maxi dresses. Elegance and casual perfectly mixed together. Can see you’ve really enjoyed putting these together. 🙂 Love the sustainability of using pieces across seasons. We all need to do more for the planet and little things like this all add up.
